What a great result from the Wall Street Journal’s recent investigative report about OT Scientologist and Gold Meritorious ($1 million) donor Joe Cecala allegedly keeping the investors in his startup, Dream Exchange, in the dark about his affiliation with the church.

Cecala has been pitching his company to Black-owned businesses in his attempt to create a new stock exchange in Chicago, pending SEC approval.

But Journal reporters Kevin T. Dugan and Alexander Osipovich dug into Cecala’s startup and found a lot of the things we have seen in the past with businesses aligned with Scientology, including pressuring employees to get involved with the church.

Keeping investors in the dark about how Cecala is funding Scientology from his personal company which owns Dream Exchange certainly sounded problematic, and now the Journal duo is back with a great follow-up: They’ve talked to former Dream Exchange employees who have been interviewed by the SEC recently.

In other words, an investigation by the SEC into Cecala’s dodgy startup certainly sounds like it’s happening. And if the SEC takes action, perhaps with a lawsuit, we might end up with a lot of specific information about how a Scientologist runs a company under L. Ron Hubbard policies, and funnels cash to the church.
