[Joe Cecala and Dwain Kyles of Dream Exchange]
On September 14, the Wall Street Journal published a hard-hitting investigation of a Chicago startup called Dream Exchange, which is seeking SEC approval to become a stock exchange.
The startup’s goal is to become an exchange catering to minority-owned businesses, but the Journal investigation revealed that its CEO, Joe Cecala, is an OT Scientologist who has not been telling investors that the company is run along Scientology principles.
And Cecala himself has funneled at least $1 million to Scientology’s IAS. The Journal’s investigation linked to our reporting of Cecala being a “Gold Meritorious” trophy winner for his million-dollar donation.

The Journal followed up that piece with news that former employees were being interviewed by the SEC, suggesting that it is looking into the complaints about Cecala.
Then, this past week, a former Dream Exchange employee named Jeff Ferrell made two remarkable posts at his LinkedIn account, providing more detail about problems at the startup.
We talked to him this week about his time at the company, the problems he saw there, and what he encountered that had to do with Scientology.

But first, we wanted to know, how did he hear about the company?
