This morning we explained why it seems so unusual that a major Scientology figure like Grant Cardone, who has donated at least $15 million to church leader David Miscavige’s initiatives, would take part in a key political event like today’s rally at Madison Square Garden.
For many years, politicians from both parties have tended to keep away from Scientology, with some notable exceptions. But we can’t remember a Scientologist like Cardone being invited to speak at an event like this, as GOP candidate Donald Trump goes into the final week of the 2024 election with this rally his campaign called “historic.”
Cardone spoke for about 7 minutes and did not bring up his involvement in Scientology, of course. He described himself as an “educator” and real estate investor, and not an OT 8 Scientologist.
But he did very conspicuously use the word “invalidate” twice in his speech in the way that Scientologists used it, which struck us as odd. Here is his entire address and a transcript of it. Does anything else strike you as something that echoes Scientology’s ways of speaking?
And hey, we hope you go out and cast a ballot on November 5 for whichever candidate. We simply feel that whoever you’re pulling for, it is simply remarkable to see Scientology represented at a political milestone like this.
