My opinion is that this is EXACTLY why he tossed the senior hierarchy into The Hole.
DM wanted to ensure that there was NOBODY with any name recognition who could spark opposition or a coup.

It sure did some damage and a few who read it heard that alarm clock---and found an exit door.
It would have been a fascinating sociological/psychological study if that letter had been read in a clinical trial let's say by 10,000 active Scientologists. I wonder how many of them would have:
1) Read it and began asking questions and (because there are no good answers) later "BLEW".
2) Begun to read it and then quickly stop and staple it to a KR, which they route to Ethics. The KR is on themselves for reading some of it. LOL
3) Read all of Cook's letter and then receive a confidential briefing that totally handled any concerns: "She is no good!" In rare instances where that r-factor did not 100% blow the black pr, the additional r-factor would be given: "She was implanted by psychs". In both scenarios the staff member would blow the black PR the average loss of post production time would be under 2 minutes.
Resistive cases would be taken off post and forced to watch the "RON IS DEAD" event video as many times as required to "fill the vacuum" with high toned r-factors, such as: "Ron is not really dead, he's just so OT that he can't be alive".
The North Korean government would be very wise to invite Scientology Volunteer Ministers over to their country in the case that their own infallible leader needs to go off into deep space to conduct "advanced research". The VM's even though they can't speak Korean would help resolve the national crisis because they could body route all N. Koreans into stadiums to get their r-factors.

As the Case Supervisor for the L Rundowns, I interfaced with Ray Mithoff frequently when he was the Senior CS of the Flag Land Base.
I do feel empathy for his plight. I would feel it emotionally when hearing of how Ray was pummelled to the ground and repeatedly kicked in the abdomen by Miscavige. Its an empathy.
Even though we are opposite sides of the fence, I still feel an affection for Ray.
(Hope he doesn't get punched for an SP liking him.)

I actually twinned with him on it on a pilot version in Big Blue in early 1980.
Hilarious that later Miscavige deemed Key to Life (KTL) and Life Orientation Course (LOC) to be squirrel and they are no longer sold

A number of people have wondered why "Key to Life" has been axed and gone and no longer available at any brick and mortar facility of the cult.
Key to Life was not religious per se but was a study cycle of looking up small words in Dictionaries, and all the definitions with the word so that long chains went on and on and on.
And then they were clay demos with a twin.
So I thought I would explain what happened.:
The essence and crux of why KTL was pulled is that too many people struggled with the verb section and there huge amounts of reports of kids/teenagers having a very rough time with KTL. As a 12 year old, do you really give fiddlesticks on conjugation or regular verbs vs irregular verbs ? Parents were regged $$$$ and many 2nd generation kids were put on the course.
Sample of area of BOG:
English Verb Conjugation
In English, you can type in infinitive forms such as “go”, “abide”, “break”, … but also conjugated forms (“done”, “making”, “has”, “comes”). The conjugator recognizes infinitive, reflexive verbs (“hurt oneself”) and negative forms (“not remember”) as well as phrasal verbs (“get off”, “come in”). The Contractions option displays the contracted forms of auxiliaries and negatives, e.g.: not believe: « I do not believe » or « I don't believe », see: « I have seen » or « I've seen », « I will go » or « I'll go

Because of the bogs, it went on and for months, even 1 -2 years with fierce attendance made mandatory or else. Yes, there were lots of blows. Youngsters fled these KTL course rooms and were yanked back with threats. It was the very last course many 2nd Gen ever attended.

There are no "squirrels" in Scientology.
Because there is no "standard" tech.
COB alters tech but he's altering the tech that has been "squirreled" innumerable times by Hubbard himself.

Exactly ZERO PERCENTAGE of the Clearing and OT tech worked. So whether someone follows the tech or wildly alters the tech, it still never works. So what then is a squirrel? It's a meaningless term in a meaningless cult selling a meaningless bridge.
