When Alex Barnes-Ross told us that he’d seen evidence that Scientology was holding a massive “book-a-thon” from May 1 to 8 in the run-up to Dianetics Day on May 9, we figured it was a lead-up to some sort of event.
Dianetics Day celebrates the original publication on May 9, 1950 of L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, the book that changed everything for him and began what would eventually come to be known as the Scientology movement.
We told Alex we figured David Miscavige would declare the book-a-thon the best ever, and it looks like we weren’t too far off the mark.
According to some new marketing fliers forwarded to us, church leader David Miscavige is going to host some sort of awards ceremony (Scientology loves handing out awards) and he’s calling it the first ever International Book One Awards. (“Book One” is what Scientologists call Dianetics.)
Miscavige will apparently hand out the awards at a ceremony on May 10, and a week later video of the ceremony will be shown at local orgs.
