A big thank you to Alex Barnes-Ross for sending over the flier that Scientology put out, announcing that next week, another anniversary party will be held for Dianetics at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, Florida.
Last year, church leader David Miscavige held what we figured was a one-off celebration to mark 75 years since the first publication of L. Ron Hubbard’s 1950 bestseller that launched what eventually became the Scientology movement.
The book first came out on May 9, 1950, and May 9 has always been one of the holiest days on the Scientology calendar ever since.
But last year’s party was a real blowout, with Miscavige on stage against one of his patented expensive backdrops, and his big announcement that a new, 75th anniversary edition of Hubbard’s book would be coming out, the first new edition since 2007. (We call it “Taylor’s Version.”)
