In my first week, I was relieved they didn't believe in drugs but seriously disappointed when I couldn't take aspirin or Tylenol. That was just over the top ridiculous.

My disappointment in the extreme anti-drug attitude increased substantially over the years when children in the Sea Org went untreated or mistreated by pseudo-naturalist fakes for illness or injury.

I liked the way I FELT when I “believed” I finally found a church that would help me and my loved ones in every area of our lives.
That feeling did not last very long which was the desired Scientological effect....it deceived & manipulated me into doing as the Scientology implant stated:
“something about it”
and I embarked the Bridge to Total Confusion
I also got trained on “How to manipulate and deceive others using ARC”.
Many years laterand way too much $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ spendt as well as deep debt....
I found myself with a shattered family, bankrupted, lost home to foreclosure so no home to live in and no money, divorced and broke ....I felt I needed to commit a Scientological high crime..It was time for me to pull the string on L RON Hubbard and Scientology so I did it. I INVESTIGATED SCIENTOLOGY”.
Why was I so “PTS” With problems I could not solve? I was following Ron’s tech.
and I had no one in my life except Scientologists so I had no one enturbulating me about my involvement in the cult.
So... I Actually followed the formulas and I looked. I found out WHY Scientology does not want you to investigate the founder, leader or the subject. I had been duped beyond belief by a criminal organization.
That hurt.

this is some info that helped me come out of my delusional state of confusion. It took a while to sink in.

Good: Reading in the PABs (Professional Auditor's Bulletins) that one should take a walk every morning for a half hour in one direction and then back again to the starting point in the opposite direction for "better beingness".

Bad: Reading the exact same suggestion in a Buddhist text many years later and discovering that even this was not original
to Hubbard.

I wish they would let us have a 30 minute walk back then.

Well, to be fair: I avoided flogging or keel hauling (the latter probably because they don't allow ships to sail across downtown LA).

Having said that, I would have very gladly got some more sleep hours in exchange for some flogging. After several months of sleeping between 5 and 0 hours a night, flogging really sounds like the more humane punishment.

Still, seems Dave doesn't like fun and games with whips and handcuffs. His preferred kinky thing seems to be punching old men in the face. And they say gay-oriented activities are frowned upon in scientology....
