Oh that's cool. Seems I always had the pronunciation wrong. I was always thinking it is "shyo-chill", while it seems to be "s'o-chill".

One time I had Montezuma's revenge in Colima, Mexico. iirc, it was in 2004. Bad street food. Got up in the a.m. tried to shave, passed out, hit my chin on the edge of the sink on the way down. Woke up a few minutes later laying on the cold cement floor. Thought about trying to make it to Cruz Rojo a couple streets over, maybe four blocks, but was puking with explosive diarrea. After a few hours I had the dry heaves, when that settled down I hurried to the clinic, was so weak I had to use the walls of buildings on the street to keep my self upright. Was worried I might have an "accident" in my pants on the walk over there. Thankfully no. Got in talked to an actual doctor with my bad Spanish and his bad English. He gave me a prescription for some stuff, I went to the farmacia which was right across the street. $30 USD. Came back to the clinic, a nurse jabbed me in the butt with a shot and I felt immensley better pretty quickly. Came back the next day for another shot and that was it I was feeling 100% better. Turns out a flu virus was going around, a real one not this covid bullshit. I had caught the flu somehow, as well as food poisoning from the street food. My solution ever since, no street food. Kinda drastic but it works for me cuz I never want to go through that again. I like the way they do things in Mexico as far as heath care is concerned.

The language is Nahuatl. According to that phonetics, the one silent is the "L". Apparently Wikipedia in a post above has the correct Nahuatl pronunciation for the "TL".

That's Moctezuma's revenge, street food. I have also had those cases, so I now have to avoid street food.

The flu is always present and sometimes it makes your noose bleed. Hard to escape that in high altitude territories, like Mexico city and surroundings.
