Your Proprietor returned home from last weekend’s HowdyCon convention in Connecticut and was promptly waylaid by a cold.
We’re feeling better now, and doing our best to get back to our usual schedule. Later today, for example, you’ll get a new episode of the Group Therapy podcast, and we are also working on getting back on track with our podcasts with Chris Shelton and TX Lawyer.
Thankfully, this has been a big week here at the Substack, with some pretty big stories that we managed to put together while feeling like crap. Hey, the news never stops.
So as we try to settle back into a more normal schedule, and as a nor’easter is dumping a ton of rain on us here in New York, we had a little time to reflect on what great time we had in New London. (And for more on that please check out today’s Group Therapy podcast.)
Alex Barnes-Ross, Patty Moher, and Phil Jones worked very hard to produce a great event that, sure, had various costs that had to be covered: Two superb venues, unlimited pizza on Friday night, a tasty meal on Saturday, and accommodations for our speakers.
And yet, Phil, who is the executive director of the Michael J. Rinder Aftermath Foundation, let us know last night that with ticket sales, a silent auction, and other merchandise sales, HowdyCon 2026 not only covered all of those costs, it was also able to bring in $2,513 for the foundation in its work to help Scientologists leaving that controlling organization.
