I had read or been told that the rationale was OT9&10 were so powerful and life-altering that OT9s
would usher in a stampede of new public to all the orgs. All the orgs had to be ideal and fully staffed up
to handle said stampede. Once OT9&10 were released and this stampede happened, the world would
be cleared in a matter of years. YMMV, LOL. Believe it or not. I heard this a long time ago.![]()
I heard the same exact thing about OT 9 & 10.
I also heard the same thing about stampedes and other supernatural events that were guaranteed to happen--upon the release of other LRH newly discovered technologies. For example: "releasing so much theta by means of as-ising entheta that the theta:mest ratio will reach the golden number, whereupon all crimes and war will cease" (--cue celebratory music--"...this is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius...."). Wasn't NED FOR OTS supposed to do that? I am convinced the cult regularly released rumors of things that then were passed around the world in wildfire fashion, until everyone just "knew" some "datum" that was never written down. File all those under the category 'Hubbard Creating Mythology"--but never admitting he started the rumors.
Now, about that stampede of people showing up at the front doors of Scientology, forming blocks-long lines and begging to be allowed to pay for auditing. The only confirmed stampedes were:
* Stampede of Scientologists blowing from Scientology (appx 98% sprinted to the exits)
* Stampede of ex-Scientologists galloping to the internet to find out WTF exactly happened to them.
* Stampede of whistleblowers flooding the internet with videos, podcasts and messages about Hubbard's hoax.
* Stampede of critics flooding bookshelves with tell-all books.
* Stampede of hard-hitting documentaries hitting the airwaves as well as massive numbers of viewers watching them.
* Stampede of cult victims demanding refunds.
* Stampede of aggrieved plaintiffs filing lawsuits.
* Stampede of protesters showing up at orgs daily.
I feel good now that I have used the word "stampede" in enough sentences.
This is okay.
