Why do we want to believe so much ?

In my opinion, humans are wired to search for meaning.

When we can't answer the biggest questions...Why are we here? What is the purpose of life? Why do terrible things happen? Why are some people born into wealth while others are born into poverty with so few opportunities? Many people naturally look to something greater than themselves.

Life isn't fair, and it inevitably brings suffering, loss, disappointment, and uncertainty. During those times, believing in God or a higher power can provide hope, comfort, and the feeling that someone understands what we cannot. It offers the belief that there is a purpose beyond what we can see, that we are loved despite our flaws, and that forgiveness and grace are possible.

I've also seen what faith can do for people struggling with addiction. Many who work the 12 Steps find strength by surrendering to a higher power. Whether that higher power is God or something else, I've seen people heal, grow, and rebuild their lives because they believed they didn't have to carry their burdens alone.

I understand why people say, "Trust in the Lord," or "It's in God's hands." Sometimes those words reflect giving up, but other times they reflect letting go of what cannot be controlled and finding the strength to keep going.

Whether someone believes in God, a higher power, or neither, I think the search for meaning, hope, and purpose is one of the most deeply human things we do.
