What if Sarge's Suicide Machine had Worked?

But, really, L. Ron Hubbard living on a California Ranch, out in the middle of nowhere.....with only one guy named Sarge, to look out for him.

That's so very inaccurate that I have to wonder if you even bothered reading any of the books that talk about Hubbard's final days - or checked Google Maps.

Whispering Winds Ranch is surrounded by numerous other small ranches and is only 5.5 miles down the road from the small town of Creston. From the satellite image, I see about 4.5 miles of properly paved 2-lane blacktop highway with about 1 mile of packed gravel dirt road from the ranch to the highway. FYI, the nearest hospital with an E/R is in Templeton, CA about 21 miles away by road. I checked and it was in existence back in 1986 (opened in 1977).

Yes, Steve "Sarge" Pfauth was there as houseman, security, "runner" of errands, etc. But, Senior Messenger (CMO) Annie Broeker was there as his Watch Messenger and she prepared meals for him, etc. Eugene Denk, M.D. was living there at Creston for the final two years to keep an eye on Hubbard medically.

If "they" were bringing him suitcases filled with cash.....where did he put that money?

Even if it is true that "suitcases with cash" were being sent out from Author Services, Inc., that doesn't mean they ever physically arrived at Creston Ranch. One of courier David Miscavige's job titles at that time was "R Accounts", which means he had complete signatory control over Hubbard's bank accounts.

Steve "Sarge" Pfauth made it very clear that D.M. and Pat Broeker were - without Hubbard's knowledge or authorization - extravagantly spending that money on themselves. That is a statute crime called embezzlement.

We know from Jesse Prince, that D.M. used his knowledge of Pat Broeker's participation in this crime as leverage to control Pat while Hubbard was still alive. Later, D.M. threatened to stick Pat with the entire legal blame for over one million dollars in money that just disappeared, which is how he got rid of the Broekers in mid-1988 or so. The stories about "Bags of cash" being found hidden in the walls at the Ranch House, also came from Dave the Grifter, whom we now know for a serial liar and confidence scammer.

Edit addition: There have been unconfirmed reports that D.M. and P.B. - again without Hubbard's knowledge or authorization - lost large amounts of Hubbard's money in high risk stock trading. The missing million or so might be explained by this.
