The numbers of "Dianetic Clears" started rapidly rising during late 1978. It rose to ridiculous numbers and, at some point, the number ceased to be mentioned.

Hubbard re-definition of "Clear," where keyed out keyed Clear IS Clear, cheapened "clear."

Hubbard downgraded "Clear"; eliminated, with no explanation, four already released OT levels.

While this was happening Hubbard started writing pulp science fiction again.

Maybe it was you that mentioned the first Dianetic Clear the other day, couldn’t remember who. But I was trying to remember why my friend finally blew and I wanna say it was bcuz they wouldn’t let her attest w/out doing Power or some such thing. This would have been somewhere late 80’s.

After I started reading the scn blogs in 2015 after watching the HBO Going Clear movie, for a couple of years I wondered if I was a "real" Clear or just some fake version since I didn't do the Power processes and the "official" Clearing Course. I eventually decided who gives a rat's ass and if someone asks me, "Did you go Clear when you were in Scientology?" I just say . . . Yes!

ASHO even gave me an Official Certificate with a Gold Seal on it to prove it!

yes i was noticing as i go along the numbers have now jumped way up. crazy. the "tech" was whatever he decided it to be on a daily basis! i was out by late 70's but still had friends and knew some goings on. some i knew are still in, although definitely dying off. such is "cult mentality". started to watch chris shelton and in the first three minutes he says "year of our lord" and i said okay i'm outta here. yesterday with aaron laughing at the psychic saying shelly was dead was enough for me to unsub. his coverage of the trial and other goings on has been outstanding. but his under a rock mentality of no past/future lives is ridiculous. even his buddy nora says she was a last life clear. and i heard her say that after i was already convinced aaron was in before.

was surprised that one newsletter said mimi and reed were cousins. i didn't know that. learning a lot from reading these newsletters!

actually, shouldn't it be alumna for her personally, but alumni for the mixed gender body that she is part of? an all-womyn institution has alumnae, but a male or mixed-gender one has alumni.

my second language is a Latin one, and that's my instinct - though come to think of it, it could even be that either is acceptable, depending on whether the reference was to all the graduates (alumni) or just singling out the female ones (alumnae). thus for example shouldn't it be 'Joan Baez, one of the most famous musical alumni' because that group clearly includes others like Leonard Cohen; but it could also be 'Joan Baez, one of the most famous female songwriter alumnae'?

Traditionally, "alumnus" refers specifically to a singular male graduate and "alumni" is the plural form for a group of male graduates and for a group of male and female graduates. Meanwhile, the term for singular female graduates is the lesser spotted "alumna", and "alumnae" refers to a group of female-only graduates.

Yikes, I wasn't expecting to see my name on this thread! We lost Geoffrey in 2008 to a rare form of cancer, always on my mind and in my heart. Pete is great, gave me an amazing grandson :rose:
