TOP SUPER-STUPID MOMENTS IN SCIENTOLOGY (PART V)

"I audited L. Ron Hubbard probably for the longest period of time that anybody has ever audited him.
He had a goal to go exterior. After one session he thought that he might have gone exterior and he
told me and described what he saw outside the room; which was a moonlit night with the trees and
stars and so on. He wanted to go outside, wanted me to come with him go outside and see if that's
what he saw, if it was there. We went outside -- it was pitch black and [we] couldn't see anything.
So, the result was we're still going to work on him going exterior."

Episode from Class 8 Lectures*
"Now, the way you audit an OT with Class 8 correction lists standardly . . . hold on . . . dammit!

"Stop the taping for a second please. Let that ferry full of people and automobiles pass by us.
Too much noise from that ferry engine going onto the tape. Just press pause for a bit, please.

"Once you attain the upper OT states, like I already have, you'll be able to go exterior with full
perception . . . at will! You won't have to turn your head and stretch your muscles. Just look!
Like I just have. Just look! See it all as a thetan. Not with your body's eyes, but you looking.
Exterior with full perception is the way to do it. It's a wonderful thing you'll soon attain."

Story from Alan Walter
Possibly this was my most embarrassing incident to do with LRH:

“It occured on the Original Class VIII course, in Oct 1968.We were docked in Corfu, a small Greek Island halfway between Greece and Italy. Each night at 8.00 p.m. LRH gave a lecture. We were in the main dining room which doubled as the lecture room. Behind LRH were the picture windows facing out to the docks across the way.

Thus there were an approx 300 of the upper level SO Staff and Class VIII students crammed into this room – facing Hubbard and Mary-Sue who sat alongside LRH – so except for LRH and MSH we all viewed the activities outside the windows.

Each night at around 8.30 pm there was a ferry from Corfu to Brindisi that would leave. It was very punctual. There was a lot of clanging and banging and the revving of engines and the ferry would come chugging past us – the sounds are probably still on the tapes.

Of course this pissed LRH off – he would turn and glare at the offending ferry boat. Any way one night at the exact time there was the usual clanging and banging and the revving of engines the chugging past us noise.

LRH does not turn his head but stares straight us and proceeds to give us how he is exterior with full perceptics – and describes the ferry, etc. He was really puffed up with his ability to demonstrate his exterior with full perceptics.

The only problem was that night a tug boat towing a garbage scow was what went past the windows.

We all witnessed it – the emperor was naked!!! There was deathly silence in the room – the room went very solid. No one looked at another. Later on only Fred Fairchild, Nev Chamberlin and I dare speak about it. But every staff member and future Class VIII were given a major withhold that night.”

That's a good point!

And for anyone sincerely interested in investing in their own future, I highly recommend a new book that will be published next week.

I am greatly surprised and honored that the LOUVRE ART MUSEUM in Paris has replaced the MONA LISA exhibit with a more contemporary graphic masterwork—which they are entitling:

THE "LONG FALL"

That is assuredly one (1) of Hubbard's TOP THREE CRINGIEST SELF-DEBUNKING MOMENTS. Another one would be when he did filled a big auditorium and with great fanfare presented "The World's First Clear!" who miserably failed to demonstrate any of the super-human abilities of a Clear. The third moment was when Hubbard asked his staff member to create a special "E" meter (Electrocution meter) to commit suicide with since none of his miraculous technology worked- -and therefore zero people (including himself) ever reached the state of OT.

All that is fun to consider, but here are the biggest revelations from that Garbage Scow story. . .

boat1-webp.30524

REVELATION #1: Everything Hubbard ever stated, wrote and/or sold regarding EXTERIORIZATION was pure garbage.

REVELATION #2: The fact that Hubbard tried to time his failed "proof of exteriorization" stunt in order to trick the 300 loyal Scientologists he was lecturing that day. . . well that was scientific proof that Hubbard DID IN FACT DO "PARLOR TRICKS"!

ps: . . . and that had to be one of the cheapest, stupidest, goofiest and lamest parlor tricks ever conceived of by a sleazy con man who charged duped donors a half-million dollars--so they can get "similar magical powers of their own".

Here is a lovely overview provided by AI about Hubbard's AVOIDANCE
of proving that he or any of his cult members have supernatural powers—

by using rhetorical dodges and/or sleazy misdirectional gimmicks:

L. Ron Hubbard routinely used variations of this claim to deflect demands for empirical or scientific proof of the supernatural abilities (such as perfect memory, telepathy, or exteriorization) he claimed his Scientology methods could unlock. Whenever critics, scientists, or skeptics asked him to demonstrate these abilities under controlled, experimental conditions, Hubbard and his organization dismissed the requests by stating that Scientology was a serious spiritual technology and that he was not a stage magician performing "parlor tricks". [1, 2]

The logic behind this defense typically fell into a few key arguments:
  • The "Spiritual Dignity" Defense: Hubbard argued that reducing human spiritual liberation to a physical demonstration or a test (like reading a card in another room) was insulting to the gravity of the religion. [1]
    • The Counter-Accusation of Hypnosis: While critics and official government inquiries—such as Australia's Anderson Report—argued that Hubbard's methods were simply clever hypnotic parlor tricks wrapped in new terminology, Hubbard maintained that he was strictly avoiding hypnosis or mysticism to offer a precise "science." [1]
    • The Burden of Personal Proof: In Scientology culture, members are told that the validity of the technology can only be realized through personal auditing, effectively shifting the burden of proof onto the individual rather than the founder.
    • .

That's a good point!

I’ve long thought that real estate provides many opportunities to launder money, and to convert Church money into private assets.

All you need to do are things like setting up maintenance and renovations companies (whose personal ties to you are very hard to uncover) to do work on the properties at high prices.

You can also mortgage the properties through overseas capital investment firms (whose personal ties to you are opaque) and collect interest.

That is assuredly one (1) of Hubbard's TOP THREE CRINGIEST SELF-DEBUNKING MOMENTS.
Add to the list the time an interviewer brought up the topic of his “second wife” (Sara Northrup) and Hubbard said “I never had a second wife”, and nobody asked “which wife# is Mary Sue then?”

That's exactly right. When asked about his 2nd wife the truthful comment if there were only two would be "you deaf? Said I was presently happily married to Mary Sue."

Instead, he says the lie "there was no 2nd wife".
