The tabloids are saying that Tom Cruise’s romance with fellow actor Ana de Armas is already kaput.
We don’t know if that’s true or not, and of course it will kick off all kinds of rank speculation about whether Tom’s status as Scientology’s most precious tree ornament had something to do with it. Again, we have no idea one way or the other.
But we were thinking about Tom anyway thanks to this new flier that went out for a virtual fundraising event happening this weekend.
Once again, Scientology has tapped into Tom’s fame to help it convince beleaguered Scientologists that they must dig deep and give even more than they already have for an “All-Ideal USA.”
Church leader David Miscavige began his “Ideal Org” program back in 2003, with the goal of replacing existing “orgs” — short for “organizations,” Scientology’s word for churches — with gleaming new larger cathedrals. He’s up to 68 of them around the world, from Tokyo to Rome.
But Scientologists are told that they still have a few more cities in the US that need new Ideal Orgs in order to make the entire country Ideal. And when that happens, Scientology will finally reach a tipping point and can soon clear the planet. (Sure, sure.)
