Over at The Daily Beast today we have a lengthy feature we’ve been working on for some time: A piece that dives into one of the oddest collaborations of the 20th century, the brief partnership of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and Nazi Germany’s favorite documentary filmmaker, Leni Riefenstahl.

It’s long been known that they spent a few weeks in 1960 working together on the idea of producing a new version of Riefenstahl’s directorial debut, the 1932 film ‘Das blaue Licht’ (‘The Blue Light’).

But there was little information about it and almost nothing about how the partnership had come together. Now, not only have we solved that mystery, we actually managed to get our hands on the screenplay they wrote together, which has never before been described!

We’re thrilled that we got to tell this story for The Daily Beast, and we hope you give it a look. But we also thought we’d supplement that piece with some material here that didn’t fit our larger story. Namely, was the script any good?

The above blog shows that she was a friend of Hubbard.

Couple of things I read that seemed unusual.....

Never read Hubbard use the word "mood" so much. He must have used that word 5 times in a couple short paragraphs. Used in relationship to a Film..... So seemed very important to him.... Never read anything from Hubbard about what sort of mood one might be in....that certainly was not something he mentions in Scientology.

And his claiming the $ amount the film would make.... He was looking at the dollar amount the film would cost and how much it would bring in......along with the accolades and fame...

Interesting to read about one of his "Projects" other than Scientology...

Of course Hubbard was pretty anti-black....as far as their worth as a people. That is nothing new.

Hubbard certainly did like to brag about his Hollywood tenure. I believe he would have liked to have gone further on that career path....than he did. In making his Tech Films.....he certainly put on the dog.

Edited: It is interesting that with all his "movie making" knowledge...and all his connections....and all his money.....Battlefield Earth was such a stupendous flop!
Luckily it was. If it had even a tiny bit of success such as Star Wars did.....we'd never hear the end of it...

How curious that in the 100s of Saint Hill Briefing Course tapes (SHSBC) which is literally HUNDREDS of hours of lectures, not once does
Hubbard mention the atrocities of Nazi Germany, or even the Nazis and Gestapo even though this was history just 20 years earlier than the lectures.

And pain and trauma is what one is supposed to understand and master.
