Another winter solstice has sneaked up on us here in the northern hemisphere, and to our antipodean friends, enjoy your summer! Once again it’s time to take stock of the year just past with our annual review, which begins today.
Let’s start out with some good news: Scientology celebrity and convicted serial rapist Danny Masterson has been in prison for all of 2024.
What a rollercoaster it’s been for us covering Masterson’s criminal case for the past eight years, since early 2017, and of course it’s not over yet with his appellate lawyers submitting their appeal brief this week. But with Danny cooling his heels all year, we had plenty of other things to cover in the world of Scientology.
Church leader David Miscavige continued his pandemic comeback with events in Los Angeles for New Year’s, Clearwater for LRH Birthday, and another IAS gala in England. And he finally got his Ideal Org program back on track, with four grand openings of projects that had been held up for years, in Austin, Mexico City, Chicago, and Paris.
