The Danny Masterson Trial thread

Trying to determine whether someone is an upstat Scientologist or a Suppressive Person is sometimes as difficult as trying to determine the status of Schrödinger's cat.

Throughout the history of Scientology, certain individuals that seemed to be playing a key role in salvaging the beings in this sector of the universe suddenly became one of the evilest SPs on the planet. One of many examples of this type of thing would be David Mayo. Hubbard trusted him more than any other tech person on the planet, choosing him as his personal auditor. Suddenly though he transformed into an SP.

seeing the list of people in the hole and some are still there labeled SP? too weird. then we have here the 2nd gen clusterfuck:

Helpful Hint:

I've only done it once - and it amazed me with the speed I was escorted out of the courthouse. If you just do not want to be on a jury, all your have to do is mention the phrase Jury Nullification to the judge and you will be out of there so fast your head will spin.

Warning: This is the Nuclear Option.

A post on rinder's website worried that the choich got to a jury member(s). Wouldn't put it past them, but that would take some clever playing. Imagine the repercussions from failure. Doesn't hardly sound worth the risk, but I appear to not have the chops or skillset for such a task.
Just a few observations...

I had wondered about this myself, it certainly has been claimed to have happened before.

Am I the only person that hasn't ever watched that seventies show? I didn't have a clue who the man was. Still don't he doesn't say much.

If I was in the habit of bringing people home from a bar for casual sex, even if it wasn't rape, I can't imagine getting much support from my family. The only way they would show up would be because they wouldn't want me to be in the slammer for the rest of my life being raped by groups of thugs, and they thought it was very possible I would be found guilty. I can hear my parents saying, ''you made your bed, now go and lie in it''

i never heard of him before either. haven't watched tv in decades. when i lived in LA in the 70's, it seems scientology was just starting to worm their way into hollywood. getting jobs in the costume and set design departments. then they worked their way up. i think that's where dan woodruff's ex ended up after she left the sea org.

Another nuclear option, at the point where you are asked if you think you can be impartial, would be to say "I don't know, he sure looks guilty to me".

While pointing at the judge.

Although I have been called to jury duty many times, I have not yet sat on one. I would actually look forward to it.

Then again, you probably don't have a net worth in the $20mil range.

I would imagine Danny would be willing to spend every penny to avoid spending his life in prison.

I think the prosecutor may have made a mistake not offering him a plea bargain of a year or so.

I have been called for jury duty many times and sat on a jury a number of times. Always enjoyed it a lot.

Setting aside Defense Council legal strategy....

I find it very strange that Danny Masterson Defense did not call any witnesses. Zero....not one.

What about Character Witnesses.....friends....his mother or father.....his wife......former co-workers.....

Were there not other people at his home when some of these rapes occurred?

I also found it weird that the Prosecution didn't call more witnesses.... Such as people that knew him or worked with him at the time...

Were there no snitches to be found...? No dirt to be dug up on the guy's manner and activity in his life?

My mistake, I forgot they belong to a money worshiping pseudo military cult.

There are advantages, if you are a scumbag Scientologist, of only hanging out with Scientologists who are constrained by the Scientology Code of Silence.

All of them are scientologists. Cohen decided bringing them in and then having Mueler cross examine them is counterproductive. Just more talk about scientologt in front of the jury.

That's my guess.

I never had any celebrity at my level. I never had any pedo stuff, any rape nor murder on my level.

But if you ask me what I would have done way back when if Danny's case dropped on my desk? I'd pull JD, Danny, Luke and pretty much every single scientologist on that party through a tag-team interrogation. Then I'd have my guys dredge up all their files looking for any connection. Then I'd find key people around them and run them through the gator in turn.
If any other witness or anything in anyone's file would corroborate that it wasn't an isolated incident or a figment of JD's imagination, then we'd have Danny tag-teamed freeform for 10+ hours straight. Or more... until we got something out of him that we all would consider to sound true based on our shared collective experience.

If we would have ended up with the notion that the accusation is substantiated, then Danny would find himself the accountable unit in that case.
Then we would find all the people who knew about this or previous instances and failed to report it. We would run them through the gator until they brake.
In the end Danny would get declared together with probably everyone else who knew but failed to report. Danny's siblings and parents would be next in line and would find themselves standing tall before the man as well.

Overall a lot of people would have a very bad scientology day if we deiced that the accusation is legit. And we ourselves would probably go through several weeks of CMO-induced trauma, shouting and hysterical administrative nonsense.

In some sense the gator machine was slow, but one turned on and in full gear, it was just as cruel and indiscriminate as any other of Miscavige's tools. It would have dragged Danny in, crushed him, spat him out, then drag in his family and friends, proceed to crush them. Possibly it could also drag in the Jane does and their families and friends.
Hell, I'd probally would have enjoyed it all the damn way till the end.

Which is prolly why Dave kept such celebrity stuff away from us. The headcount would have been too high and the taste in CC and among Dave's good high paying and famous public would have been too bitter.

... So all of that obviously would never happen. Because DM would never let the continental gators take care of any "delicate" matter.

Funny enough, Mike Rinder answers the very same question on Tony Ortega's podcast here (timestamp 36:33):

His answer started much the same as mine: "Find all the people who had anything to do with it and gather them". So I was kind of expecting that the whole answer will be identical. But there was a difference - Mike said that after gathering them all his priority would be to spirit them away outside the US to foreign Jurisdictions like Denmark or Australia, so they wouldn't be able to testify.

Perhaps in that is the difference between ethics inv and OSA in a nutshell:
INV: We gather everyone, interrogate them till their eyes bleed and then we make them pay and make sure they suffer.
OSA: We gather everyone, then we disappear them.

Now, the end result might be more similar than it seems. After all, sending someone who doesn't speak any Chinese to Kaohsiung org for years will surely produce suffering. So will sending that person to the Freewinds and not allowing them to go ashore at any port for years and years.

What is also common is that a: "OMFG we cannot handle this internally, we need to go to the police!" option is not on the table for either.

But the priority is a tad different. Maybe It is just me, but I found that very interesting. For a "former high inquisitor" point of view. ;)

By the way... I did not realize it would be important/interesting to anyone, but Chris Shelton mentioned it and that gave me some thought (link to the specific timestamp below):

I was to confirm what Chris is saying. Ethics in my day had several pieces of software that we used and one of them did explicitly allow you to take a person from the files and it would map all their connections - all their former subordinates, former superiors, family, friends, co-workers, people who worked with them in front groups, who they went to delphi with... the works.

I mentioned this exact process in my post above:

This is exactly what I meant. You map it all out, see who would be in a position to know anything about this case and then interrogate them. Which is EXACTLY how some cases ended up having multiple accountable units, 25+ people interrogated, with each going through more than 3 hours of interrogation. I personally led multiple case investigations where the total amount of interrogation hours was in the triple digits.

Crazy times, ne?

I wonder if one of those who got sick was the hold-out?

Yep, exactly my thought
Given it is the situation, then watch out the verdict will come very soon.

I would not be surprised that, months after this trial is over, it is leaked that only one juror was obstructing a consensual verdict, obstructing passionately.
