We’re so glad to have Sunny Pereira back. She’s written some terrific pieces for us over the years about her experiences as a Sea Org member who worked at Scientology’s Hollywood Celebrity Centre. Who could forget, for example, her eyewitness report that Brad Pitt had brought his iguana to CC to get it audited? But now, Sunny has a stunning new piece for us. We’ll have plenty to say about it after you read her account…

The only reason I ended up seeing Charles Manson’s Scientology case file was because of the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
See, anyone who has had any Scientology services will have a case file started on them. All of them are marked with “Confidential, Confessional Priest/Penitent Privileged File.”
All the files are kept, and going back to the beginning of a case. When the folder gets too thick with documents, then a new file is made in the same way, and is labelled as file #2.
So all these older files had to be kept secure somewhere. Even very old files of people who were no longer in Scientology or deceased are preserved. It is actually a “Suppressive Act” to shred or trash the files for any reason.
Celebrity Centre has a case (called PC) file archives storage. It is a massive room of shelves with minimal walking space between them, stacked as high as possible. And with that earthquake, hundreds of the shelves buckled onto each other and thousands of case files crashed to the floor and got mixed up.
After the chaos of assessing the safety and health of the staff, and then damage to the building, it was time to get things back together.
