Things are heating up on both sides of the Atlantic as Scientology leader David Miscavige tries to arm-wrestle a couple of communities that are very important to Scientology’s fortunes, and that each recently rebuffed Miscavige’s previous proposals.
In England, Miscavige is trying to get local governments to approve a new development plan at Scientology’s UK headquarters, Saint Hill Manor in East Grinstead, which has been opposed by environmental groups and local political bodies. Now, he’s back with a new proposal, and Alex Barnes-Ross was in attendance yesterday as the East Grinstead Planning Committee ignored apparent conflicts of interest to give a thumb’s up to Scientology’s scheme.
In Clearwater, Florida, meanwhile, home of Scientology’s spiritual mecca, the Flag Land Base, Miscavige has resubmitted a proposal for the city to vacate a local street after an initial plan was on the verge of being rejected by the city council. As in England, Dave is going big with new plans that look designed to overwhelm local opposition. We’ve asked Mark Bunker, who is running again for Clearwater city council, for his reaction to the new proposal.

Today's East Grinstead Town Council meeting was FARCICAL. Firstly, a Scientology agent complained about filming, to which the Clerk reminded him this is a public Council meeting.. and then half the room left due to their close ties with Scientology. Of the three remaining councillors, only one hasn't received gifts/hospitality from Saint Hill.
