The ever-vigilant Alex Barnes-Ross, a former London Scientology staffer, spotted something interesting in a new planning application in West Sussex, England.
Alex, of course, has been keeping an eye on Scientology’s UK headquarters there in East Grinstead, which is trying to get a large car park approved for use during its annual 3-day autumnal event, the IAS gala.
Alex has been helping us document how various local groups — including environmental organizations concerned with how Scientology’s plans might upset critical Great Crested Newt habitat — are voicing their opposition to Scientology leader David Miscavige’s development ambitions.
Well, one local group that Scientology could usually count on to stand by its side is the nearby East Grinstead Sports Club, which at one time had submitted its own plans for a smaller car park that didn’t happen.
One of the ways that Scientology has tried to justify its own larger parking lot was by indicating how its own huge lot would benefit a neighbor like the sports club.
But Alex noticed that recently, East Grinstead Sports Club has again submitted plans for a small car park, and with attention paid to keeping local newts safe.
