Leah Remini, Mike Rinder reunite for Scientology: Fair Game podcast

I've listened to the whole first episode and it sounds really decent I must say. Looking forward to the next one, was pleasantly surprised.

@Karakorum

I'm happy it looks like they'll delve into all your questions about
OSA's handling of pedophilia and rape and other unseemly crimes.
And all Mike's activities and OSA's super-secret techniques will be
revealed in time. Cult terrorism is not rocket science and there's
only a small number of go-to moves they can make. It's not unlimited.
The basic methods are out there for the reading.

"My questions"? I'm not at all under the delusion that my opinions or posts here and/or on Mike's blog had much to do with the subject matter they chose. I may be a megalomaniac, but I'm no narcissist. :coolwink:
Many people replied to Mike's blog post where he first introduced the idea for a podcast and several others also asked for OSA related stuff. It's a no-brainer, that's the stuff Mike is the utmost expert on. I think they chose a very good medium for it. The show's target audience might not have been as interested in the inner working of OSA, but the podcast is better suited to reach the correct demographic if you ask me.

If you have some more urgent questions they aren't getting to, you can
always post them in the comments section of the podcast website by
simply using your avatar name, Karakorum, and entering one of your
"sockpuppet" email addresses. (Yes, we all have them.)

I use the same email for all my ex-scn related activities.

Just thinking of you there in hot and sunny [ redacted ]. :coolwink:

I think I can hazard a guess what scn will write about the podcast:

- "Two SPs engage in almost an hour of profanity laced, unhinged hysterical dramatization while spitting venom, sprerading vile lies and crazy allegations in a vain effort to hinder our intrepid struggle to save this sector of the gullibxy!"

Hey! Wait a minute! Isn't that what Hubbard and the Church of Scientology have been doing from the very beginning?

I guess there is something true and useful in the tech after all. Thanks Ron!

Truly, this is Mankind's Greatest Friend!

With the introduction of this weekly podcast, I'm sure our old pal Alanzo
is bursting a blood vessel about now. He and his sidekick Corey will have
to think of a knew hobbyhorse issue to go on about incessantly.

They can give each other touch assists to ease the trauma. :coolwink:

They sound like they are describing themselves. They always do. They don't seem to be aware of the fact. No doubt they will write about it in STAND or FREEDOM.

Reading the various articles on the STAND website or the FREEDOM MAGAZINE site can be amusing and enough to make you roll your eyes. I feel like rolling my eyes and laughing, I think I will check out the STAND site again.

Scientology Deaths and Suicides

Tony Ortega covers the story:

Leah Remini: In Scientology, all sickness comes from enemies of the church

* * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

And the most powerful statement Leah makes in the hour-long episode is that for Scientologists all ailments, including cancer, only happen because they have been exposed to something that opposes their church. You are sick because you have become a “potential trouble source” (PTS) and you are connected to “suppression” — something or someone against Scientology.

Episode 0 (Introduction) is now available to download on iHeart and everywhere else podcasts are available.

You can even google it directly.

Unfortunately, the website that was going to accompany the podcast has been hacked and sabotaged. Should be fixed in the next few hours and as soon as it is live I will update with the link here.

[SNIP]

Here are the documents — and for a more in-depth look at them, read Dealing with Critics of Scientology: the L. Ron Hubbard Playbook:

The Fair Game Policy Letter

“May be deprived of property or injured… May be tricked, sue or lied to or destroyed.”

View attachment 5098

Fair Game “Cancellation”

The term isn’t to be used any longer as it causes “bad public relations” — but the treatment of SP’s (enemies) is NOT canceled.

View attachment 5099

Ethics Order “Racket Exposed”

These people are “Enemies of mankind, the planet and all life” (for distributing Hubbard writings that he did not authorize).

Process R2-45 is to be used (shoot them in the head with a .45 caliber revolver).

“Critics of Scientology”

Anyone who criticizes scientology is a criminal with “embezzled funds, moral lapses, a thirst for young boys – sordid stuff.”

“Discuss his or her crimes, known and unknown. And act completely confident those crimes exist. Because they do.”

Numbered in the grand Scientology tradition as episode zero, for an hour the duo we got to know so well in their three-season A&E series Scientology and the Aftermath picked up pretty much where they left off last year, with Leah expressing exasperation over the things Scientology gets away with and Mike calmly explaining how things work both in Scientology and in law enforcement as far as “fair gaming” Scientology’s perceived enemies.

Conversely, NEVER discuss $cientology with a $cientologist, always discuss THEIR crimes.

I've listened to the 2nd episode and so far I like it less than the first one.

I agreed with pretty much everything there was said about health issues in scientology. It was a bit abstract though, I wish Leah and Mike would add a sense of directness by giving a bit more specific examples of scientologists they knew (not just celebrities). I don;'t think people need last names, but specific stories of specific people would help to illustrate the point and give it more of an impact.

What I did not hear (and I believe is important) is how scientology treats pregnancy and old age. These are probably the most disgusting things inside:" abortions and offloading of the elderly who served faithfully all their lives.

But maybe both of these topics deserves its own episode (hint!)

Lastly, there was one side-theme mentioned in a way that I want to approach critically. Scientology parenting. I guess I care about that one enough to give specific timestamps and quotes:
"Timestamp: 13:35
Leah: Scientologists, parishioners, (I'm not talking about SO members, I'm not talking about employees of scientology), do not raise their children. My primary caretaker was scientology.

Timestamp 14:34

Leah: I'm not saying Scientology parents do not house their children, that they do not feed them, they might take their children out on a beach day. But children of Scientology are spending their days and nights at scientology. 8 hours plus a day. Am I lying Mike?
Mike: Nope. Not lying at all Leah.
Leah: Just so you'll know, these are the primary caretakers of all children who are raised in scientology. So scientology parents really have no hand in raising their children. They hand them over to scientology."

The major issue that I have is that Leah is making a sweeping generalization and state that this happens to "all children who are raised in scientology" are not raised by their parents, but by scn.

As a 2nd gen kid raised in scientology I can tell you that not all parents/guardians make scientology the main caretaker of their kids. This is simply nonsense. I'm sorry Leah, but someone needs to say this. I understand that it was probably your experience, but I want to stress that it was not what all kids raised in scientology experienced.

I've experienced both extremes of scientology "parenting" If you want you can read my story in this thread.
  • When my grandfather was head of the household, me and my sis were raised 99.5% by him. I've never been sent to ethics in this time, never been sent to any sort of handling. I had maybe half a dozen hours of auditing. I've not been forced to the the purif. I didn't have to use scientology study tech. Scientology was pretty much fun and games, invader forces, the matrix, my gramp's past lives and so on. "8 hours plus" of scientology a day? More like 8 hours of scientology per year.
  • When he died and my mom became head of the household, she gave us to the nannies and we were living in a scientology facility 24/7 while she was off to join staff and stay on the other side of the country.
So not all kids of scientologists "are spending their days and nights" at scientology. That is what shitty, horrible parents/guardians do to them. The decent parents/guardians have enough brains and enough willpower to just say "no thanks" and raise their kids their own way and giving scientology only as much access to them as they see fit and proper.

There are good and bad parents and prolly some in between. They need to be clearly distinguished and the bad ones should not be given any excuses. My message to the bad ones is: "No, not all parents in scientolgy are as lousy as some of you guys. It is just you. It is your damn fault if you let them do this to your kids. No go and at least take some fucking responsibility for it!" :furious:

... I'm sorry if I got emotional, but that was a very personal and important point for me to make.

Now that I wrote that I disagree with Leah on this one side subject, I will put on my hardhat and retreat to an already prepared foxhole to get through the inevitable barrage of angry posts by the known OSA-baiters, black-and-white thinkers, holier-than-thou crusaders and the righteous beeliners out there. :D

I've not listened to episode 2 as yet, so won't comment on it.

During my experience in Scientology (1980's) not all children were treated in that same way. But I wouldn't be as critical towards the parents who did treat their children in that way. Yes, I'm sure it was horrible for children who were "cared for" by Scientology such as yourself. And yes, the parents who did that are fully responsible for the consequences. I'm not trying to make an excuse for them. It is said though that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and for at least some of these parents, they truly did believe that what they were doing was the greatest good. All of our eternity was at the stake of course, including for their own children. Yes, it IS insane. Unfortunately, though Scientology indoctrination can make previously sane people act in an insane fashion. I made some pretty insane decisions myself back then in order to help save the universe.

I've listened to both episodes. I'm giving them some rope. Glad to have them doing the podcast.

Initial thoughts:
  • Seems like they're furiously discussing and pushing out what's "top of mind" to them at the moment.
  • I (we) may not be the obvious audience for this podcast. Longtime members here are pretty sophisticated.
  • Look at the long-ball game. These are just the first pitches. Think in 52 podcasts a year for a few years.
  • The founder LRH's death (55:30 Ep. 2) was rushed, almost as a footnote, and is worthy of a full episode
and deep dive, since his failing health and questionable death after all his hyperbolic promises
    is the "big story," IMO.
Right off the top, I'd say they could use a "producer." I'm qualified, but not willing to put
my ass on the line and get involved. So I'll shut up. For now.

That said, I have a list of about 20 questions and topics I'll feed them after they they get
out their top-of-mind stories. Mike's thirty years in the SO is certainly an expansive amount
of day-to-day activity and ground to plow and ask questions about. It's gonna take a few weeks
and episodes.

. . . but specific stories of specific people would help to illustrate the point and give it more of an impact.
Go write some feedback here.
But maybe both of these topics deserves its own episode (hint!)
Go write some feedback here.

I'm sure they'd like to hear from you, having been in the same business and with a depth of knowledge
of your own.

I'm gonna post my hard-hitting and invasive questions over there when I think they're ready for 'em.
Just not yet. Let them get the stories on the surface unburdened and told first. But I do have a bunch
of questions and topics already written. Had 'em ready for years. :coolwink:

The Behar episode was good. Very focused on the issue, but also all around friendly sounding and informative.
