Once again, Scientology leader David Miscavige has had a giant tent, or “marquee” as they say in England, put up at the church’s UK headquarters, Saint Hill Manor in East Grinstead, for next month’s annual gala celebrating the IAS.

The International Association of Scientologists is the church’s membership organization, and its tradition is to hold a three-day event on a weekend in October which includes a lengthy speech by Miscavige as well as a “Patrons Ball” to fete Scientology’s biggest donors.

The date of this year’s event has not been revealed by Miscavige, but he’s asked members to be ready to come to England at any time during the month.

In the meantime, Scientology has waited until the last minute to submit plans for a future car park that will be near the tent location as a back-door way of securing permission for the tent itself. Former Scientology London staffer Alex Barnes-Ross, who discovered that Scientology had not been seeking the proper permits for the annual tent, took apart that problematic petition earlier this week for us.

Alex has now sent us photos showing that Dave’s tent is now up, whether the church has formal permission or not.

When I see David Miscavige contort his face in his awkward attempt to present a smile, this is the song I hear in my head.
