Scientology may be struggling to bring in new members, but church leader David Miscavige continues to have success getting huge donations out of his rich whales.
The new Impact magazine listed whole new collections of them, which we noted on Thursday. But the issue also came with a special spotlight on one young megadonor, the son of Scientology’s wealthiest benefactors, Bob and Trish Duggan.
At 27, Daniel Duggan is the youngest “Platinum Meritorious” donor in Scientology history.
The first Platinum Meritorious in church history was none other than Tom Cruise back in 2006, a recognition of $2.5 million in cumulative donations to the International Association of Scientologists, the church’s membership organization.
These days, plenty of wealthy members have reached the Platinum Meritorious level, but Miscavige must be thrilled that young Daniel is carrying on the family tradition of forking over huge amounts of money.
So the youngster gets this special profile in Impact, and it will be interesting to see how much Miscavige manages to pull out of this guy in the years ahead.

For Daniel Duggan, a 27-year-old entrepreneur and the youngest Platinum Meritorious in the world, financial achievement is a means to contribute to something larger than himself. “We all need to help each other become successful so we can count on each other. The IAS is a camaraderie. We’re all in it together,” says Daniel.
This philosophy of shared responsibility wasn’t always second nature to Daniel, who was born in 1998 in Bullhead City, Arizona. Despite a supportive and privileged upbringing, he describes his younger self as “an angry teenager against the world, jaded and upset.”
Everything changed in 2016 when he did the Objectives. “I gained the ability to have and understand that everyone else is living in their own world, too,” he recalls. “You have to have enough love to love the other people around you, even if you don’t know them, and to love the planet enough to devote time and resources to improving it. We’re not doing this for our own personal gain. It has to be for the whole planetary salvation.”
Daniel is now Clear and currently on the Professional TR Course at Flag.
From early on, Daniel’s parents emphasized that financial achievement and giving back are inseparable. They taught him the importance of earning his own success and taking responsibility. These lessons guided him through his first business venture, where he learned about carefully evaluating every aspect of operations, managing the bottom line and building a sustainable business model.
Today, Daniel applies those lessons in MoonTide Beauty — his newest venture, a natural skincare company he recently cofounded with his wife, Honor. As Daniel puts it, “She handles all the creative aspects of business and life.” The couple saw a market for high-quality, natural skincare products made in the USA. They promote their clean beauty products through social media and plan to steadily expand their product line as they grow their customer base.
The company isn’t just a business for Daniel. He sees it as his means to contribute to the IAS and support the Church in a big way. “With business, you have to find something you enjoy doing, which you understand and that can be profitable,” he says, adding, “It has to be profitable at a high enough rate that you can continuously expand.”
Daniel also approaches his role as an IAS Field Disseminator with urgency and purpose, pushing others — especially younger Scientologists — to rise to the challenge. He believes in building a network of support with people helping each other grow and achieve, ensuring the next generation is always prepared to step up. “If we decide to just skate on by and let the older generation handle it, then there may be a time in the future when the older generation isn’t there to handle it.”
For Daniel, supporting the IAS is about increasing the group’s power. “We can’t do it alone — it’s as simple as that. When we’re all in it together, it’s more fun. And it’s also taking responsibility for the next generation,” he says. “We’re doing this for the entire Fourth Dynamic so we all rise up, and together we clear the planet. That’s the whole game. It’s we, not me. We have to make supporting the IAS our first priority.”
