New documents have been released by London police that help explain why they thought it was necessary to handcuff and detain Alex Barnes-Ross when he was peacefully protesting at the May 15 film premiere for Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, which featured actor Tom Cruise in attendance.

Alex has been garnering an impressive amount of media attention in the UK since the former London Scientology staffer began speaking out about things he witnessed in the organization. And he’s been praised for his peaceful protests that he says are aimed at helping current members rethink their involvement in a controlling, abusive group.

So he was surprised, he says, when police officers approached him as he was livestreaming the event taking place in Leicester Square and immediately asked him to put his hands behind his back so he could be cuffed.

Now, a new document has been released that reveals police received a call from someone who claimed they were watching Alex’s livestream, and said that Alex “told the livestream and people watching that they plan to throw oil over TOM CRUISE.”

Alex said previously at his website that the police told him they were checking out a claim that he was going try such an attack, but he didn’t know that the unidentified tipster had said that Alex was telling his livestream audience about his supposed plans.
