Does anybody here think there is a Bridge To Total Freedom?

I am making odds:

Greater probability to have contact with an alien race than there exists a bridge to total freedom.

Greater probability to cure cancer than there exists a bridge to total freedom.

Greater probability that Christ walked the Earth than there exists a bridge to total freedom.

Greater probability that we find a way off this planet before life will not be sustainable here than there exists a bridge to total freedom.

The last thing the CofS wants is for any of its parishioners to end cycle with them and become totally free, because free people aren't forever paying out money for auditing and training (and may also decide to say "No" when asked for donations as well). It's the irony of their situation; they claim to be trying to make the able more able, but don't want them to ever be able to say "No" if it would be detrimental to their own interests.

Excellent points!

It's very consistent with my own long-held belief that:

SCIENTOLOGY'S STATED INTENTION AND GUARANTEE IS TO
BESTOW UPON ITS LOYAL PARISHIONERS BOTH "TOTAL FREEDOM"

WHETHER SCIENTOLOGY CAN DO WHAT IT CLAIMS IS NOT EVEN
AN IMPORTANT QUESTION TO CONSIDER. BECAUSE EVEN IF THE TECH
DOES DELIVER ITS PROMISE OF "TOTAL FREEDOM", SCIENTOLOGISTS
ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE ANY OF THAT FREEDOM.

HENCE, AN OT VIII HAVING TO ASK COURSE SUPERVISORS FOR
PERMISSION TO USE THE RESTROOM. OR, TO SUBMIT A CSW
AND HOPE FOR WRITTEN APPROVAL TO TAKE A DAY OFF COURSE
TO ATTEND A PARENT'S FUNERAL. BUT THE CSW GETS DENIED
UNLESS IT CONSISTS OF SINCERE BEGGING TO BE ALLOWED
TO MAKE UP THE DAMAGE TO RON--BY MAKING UP THE
LOST TIME (WHICH APPARENTLY, IT SEEMS,
BELONGED TO RON IN HE FIRST PLACE
)

Homo sapiens showed up about 200,000 years ago with a population of about 10,000 to 30,000,
per estimates.

There are currently 7 billion people on earth today. The Population Reference Bureau estimates
that about 107 billion people have ever lived.

During all those 200,000 years, probably all those 107 billion people have asked a variation of the
question -- whether about total freedom through reincarnation, heaven, nirvana, the bridge, crossing
over the abyss, out of body travel, mental therapy, religion, etc. -- without a definitive answer.

I'm in that group. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I like your math.

My conclusion thus far about life here on "this planet" is a close derivative of your own.

Nobody really knows much of anything that's going on "on this planet".

They know virtually nothing about what is happening in the rest of the universe.

If earthmen have thus far have advanced science about earth-things, it might be that they have learned 0.01 percent of what is happening.

If we want to map out what earthmen (scientists, messiahs, messengers of God, gurus, philosophers, et al) have learned about THE UNIVERSE and LIFE ITSELF, the equation might be something like:

0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001 percent.

Maybe exponentially less.

As far as earth gurus and religious leaders, they are not unlike political gurus who make up a silly story that people are bound to like (causing them to become part of the religion and donate) and then tell them: "If you liked your fairy tale religious story---you can keep your fairy tale religious story" (about God and religion for the rest of your life and not have to think or worry about these freaky cosmic questions about life and death and generally kill your buzz).

The only known exception to the above is one lone man. L. Ron Hubbard. He alone traveled throughout the universe to discover that "Scientology is the only game in the entire universe where everyone wins". He also traveled backwards in time to before there was time. And he learned everything. But other than Ron, nobody knows anything really.

Homo Novis showed up about 70 years ago . . .

And that has made all the difference.

Look it up, if you don't believe me in a scientific journal. I'll look up the name when I have some time but it begins something like this:

"Two Roads (to Total Freedom) diverged in a wood, and I--
took the one less traveled Free."

Yes, this video was posted on the old exscn board and I watched it through several times. Absolutely unbelievable the way this woman was treated. She was so trusting and gullible though. Tragic.
yep, I've seen a few times too back in the day. Our story is similar, my OT8 wife had completed to OT8. When the new OT7 came out, we fell for it, it was new tech, new e-meter more sensitive, etc.

Boy oh boy, we went thru the ringer. I was all for it at the time as I thought if she can become more OT, why things would be more rosey.

In the beginning it was OK, but those 6 month OT sec checks were a killer, going to flag every 6 months for a sec check. Costs were about $10k each trip. After a year of this it was credit card time. Another few months it was like WTF. She said she felt completed, but no acknowledgement.

During this time they were pre-regging her to do the new OT8, and she said no thanks, I know what it is. But they kept trying. She said I only want to complete OT7 again.

During this time I was reading ESMB and posting, OMG.

Anyways, we went into debt and could no longer pay the credit cards. It became really complicated. We did bankruptcy, only not thru the courts, we just stopped paying on the credit cards. That I'm afraid opens up a new whole can of worms. Holy jeepers, you think scientology reggs are bad, debt collectors are of the same breed. Makes one think a bit.

I don't wish anybody to have go what we did. It was really hard.

Anyways, we made it. We got sued for some credit cards and had to pay, some we did not, and we were free. We then went all cash, and I'm proud to say we have accumulated 350K since leaving scientology. It can be done.

The scientology you knew, with these six-month security checks and astronomical prices for services and the remorseless regging that went with them is totally unlike the the one I knew.

I was out by the mid-seventies, and so most of this stuff came into effect long after I was gone. I always find it desperately sad to read about the horrendous experiences some of you here have been through. Fortunately I got away without much financial or psychological damage done.

Our main problem in life is happiness, but I’ll tell you more in a moment. The world may or may not be designed to be a happy one. It may not be possible for you to be happy in this world, and yet nearly all of us have a goal to be happy and cheerful about existence.

-L. Ron Hubbard

from "Is It Possible To Be Happy?" --A NEW SLANT ON LIFE

One of the few truthful, even profound things Hubbard ever wrote. Remember, he did warn you.
well, if one were to read the rest of that rhetoric piece of writing by Hubbard, or persuasion, at the very end he says:

"Scientology has made it possible for him to do so."

yep, fortunate you were, you were. Hubbard was busy busy writing HCO PL's and HCOB's during that time period, unbeknownst to you. Later to be called the OEC's and FEBC's for management tech of how to run scientology organizations known as Orgs, mission, etc.

HCOB's were for how to audit.

In the 1980's, after Hubbard dead, DM and his laywers really went to town to create a religion.

Man, oh man, those guys really stole millions from people, mostly the whales.

Strange things that happen:

Go to the store for a couple things, spend $ 87.36.

Go to the car dealership for an oil change, drive out in a new car.

Go to a bar with friends, have all the small beginnings of your own family by dawn.

Peak out of the foxhole and find yourself standing at the pearly gates.

Go to a business seminar and find yourself posting on this blog thirty years later.

Read that there is a thing such as the Bridge to Total Freedom, find yourself in a prison or your own mind's making.
