The final fleecing that members of Scientology go through to complete the “Bridge to Total Freedom” takes place not in a “church” or an “org,” but on a dilapidated and compact cruise ship.
Church leader David Miscavige had only recently taken control of Scientology after founder L. Ron Hubbard’s 1986 death when the church purchased the Freewinds and began offering the culminating experience of “OT 8” on it.
Why on a ship? A couple of reasons. First, as a throwback to Hubbard’s naval background and the years (1967-1975) he spent running Scientology from sea. But second, a ship constantly moving between a few different islands in the Caribbean is an ideal way to keep prying eyes (and prying governments) out of this ultimate prank on pilgrims.
Over the years, some of our readers have kept an eye on the Freewinds’ current location with modern tracking software. But where is the barge going to be next week, or next month?
Well, one of our readers has the answer, forwarding to us the ship’s schedule over the next few months. How handy!
