DON’T FUND OUR ENEMY

April 25, 2020
President Donald J. Trump
1600 Pennsylvania Ave, NW
Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear Mr. President:
You have rightly taken the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to task for its “knowing responsibility” for the current, deadly pandemic that has cost our nation and the world dearly. We strongly support your determination to get to the bottom of whether it did so accidentally or intentionally.

In the meantime, we believe nothing should be done to cause the Chinese government to believe that accountability can be avoided for the global crisis it has perpetrated through sustained deception, lack of transparency and malfeasance. Under no circumstances should we reward the CCP for such unconscionable behavior.

Unfortunately, the impending implementation of a decision first taken three years ago by the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) risks not only conveying a decidedly mixed signal. Such a step can also empower the Chinese Communist Party and the corporations it uses to endanger our security and betray our values.

Unless you act immediately to interdict the transfer now in the offing – one that would result in the Thrift Savings Plan’s $50 billion International Fund “mirroring” the MSCI All-Country World ex-U.S.

Index, then billions of dollars of U.S. government employees’ pension funds will soon be invested in the PRC and some of its most problematic companies. The latter include the following:

• AviChina Industry & Technology Ltd.: AVIC and its subsidiaries develop and produce a range of aircraft, unmanned aircraft systems and airborne weapons for the People’s Liberation Army.

AVIC and its subsidiaries have been repeatedly sanctioned by the U.S. for missile proliferation activities in Iran.

• China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation: Naval equipment produced by CSIC includes: guided missile destroyers, frigates, conventional submarines, nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems, and, most notably, aircraft carriers.

• Hikvision Digital Technology: Hikvision manufactures video cameras and other security technology integral to the CCP’s surveillance state apparatus, its “social credit” system and the network of large-scale concentration camps used to incarcerate certain religious minorities.

Hikvision has been sanctioned by the U.S. government for human rights and other activities “contrary to the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States.”

• Zhongxing Telecommunications Equipment Corporation (ZTE): ZTE is a telecommunications company that has engaged in economic and trade activities in sanctioned states in violation of U.S. laws and regulations.

• China Communications Construction Company: As of 2015, CCCC owned over half of China’s dredging industry capacity.Several CCCC subsidiaries have been observed conducting dredging (and other) activity in support of Beijing’s illegal island-building activity in the South China Sea.

2

• China Unicom: China Unicom is providing telecommunications systems to the contested Paracel Islands and Spratly Islands in the South China Sea to service China’s civilian and military personnel and also reportedly to support signals intelligence activities.

• China Mobile Ltd.: China Mobile provides telecommunications services to illegal fortified Chinese-constructed islands in the Paracel and Spratly Island chains. In May 2019, the U.S. FCC denied China Mobile’s application to provide international telecommunications services between the U.S. and foreign destinations, saying it “raises substantial national security and law enforcement risks.”

• China Telecom Corporation: In April 2020, the U.S. government pulled a license from this Chinese telecommunications company’s American subsidiary on the grounds that it entailed unacceptable risks of Chinese espionage and disruption of U.S. networks.

The appalling prospect that, among others, our men and women in uniform would, as a result of this outrageous FRTIB initiative, be compelled to invest their personal retirement savings in companies building advanced weapons systems designed to kill them prompted eleven influential flag, general and non-commissioned officers – including two former National Security Advisors to the President – to take action. They recently urged the Joint Chiefs of Staff to recommend that you intervene to prevent this outrage, something you have the authority to do pursuant to the International Economic Emergency Powers Act (IEEPA).

By acting in this way, these military leaders are echoing bipartisan and bicameral congressional requests that the FRTIB suspend further implementation of its decision, originally taken in 2017 under very different circumstances. Such recommendations are also aligned with overwhelming public sentiment – as documented in a national poll of likely voters conducted by John McLaughlin in January, before the pandemic further sharpened popular attitudes towards Communist China.

For all these reasons, we strenuously endorse such appeals and call on you to act before any Thrift Savings Plan funds begin enriching the Chinese Communist Party, and enabling its further malevolence directed at the United States.

Sincerely,

Mr. Brian Kennedy

Significantly, Scientologist Greg Mitchell, Founder and Co-Chair of The International Religious Freedom Roundtable, is a member of The Committee on the Present Danger: China:

Mitchell is also a registered lobbyist for Scientology who received half a million dollars from the church over the last five years.

Scientology signing the letter is an obvious attempt to gain favor with the Trump administration and the MAGA community.

The government of the People's Republic of China will be less than pleased with the Church of Scientology.

The Honorable Elisabeth Tichy-Fisslberger
President of the Human Rights Council, Fourteenth Cycle (2020)
Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR)
Palais Wilson
52 rue des Pâquis
CH-1201 Geneva, Switzerland

16 April 2020

Dear President Tichy-Fisslberger,

We, the undersigned individuals, represent a myriad of religious, economic, intellectual, and political backgrounds, who collectively strive to promote and protect fundamental human rights as well as the international standard of freedom of religion or belief. We would firstly like to recognize your dedication to human rights leadership, which is both admirable and timely amidst the outbreak of a global pandemic. It has come to our attention that China has been nominated and selected for a one-year mandate as a member state of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UN HRC) Consultative Group, a group consisting of five UN member states whose ultimate purpose is to review applications and suggest recommendations to independent UN experts, whom the member states are required to review based on the following six criteria: (a) expertise; (b) experience in the field of the mandate; (c) independence; (d) impartiality; (e) personal integrity; and (f) objectivity.

China is a nation recognized by the broad international humanitarian community to be a routine violator of human rights, most notably: freedom from involuntary servitude; freedom from torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment; freedom from arbitrary arrest, detention or exile; freedom from interference with his privacy, family, home or correspondence; freedom of thought, conscience and religion; freedom of opinion and expression and; freedom of peaceful assembly and association.

We find it problematic and reprehensible that a country whose government does not follow international human rights laws nor meets its obligations as a member State of the United Nations should be considered for, let alone chosen as a member of the UN HRC Consultative Group, especially considering its plethora of human rights abuses. A great concern is the possibility that China’s own oppressive ideology could be inherently exported into the initiatives and decisions of the United Nations and thus diminish any semblance of impartiality and neutrality. Secondly, we fear that China could use this new power to preferentially nominate and approve experts based on partisanship and nepotism rather than on their human rights expertise and objectivity. In short, China will have the power to nominate experts that will investigate China’s own human rights record- introducing bias into the United Nations human rights review procedures. Finally, we are concerned that this action will create a precedent in which China’s historical human rights abuses will continue to be overlooked in favor of ensuring its inclusion and participation in the United Nations’ future initiatives.

Among the experts that China will have a voice in vetting and choosing are three new members of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention. We wholeheartedly believe that China should have no say in such a decision given its historical pattern of detention and disappearance as a means to eradicate political dissent among scholars and humanitarian activists. In 2018, Chinese human rights lawyer Yu Wensheng was arbitrarily detained and his attorney status revoked. A year later, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention released its decision that “there was no legal basis for the arrest and detention of Mr. Yu, and his deprivation of liberty is arbitrary under category I.” It is completely impermissible that China should have the authority to choose experts for the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, which has historically been involved in condemning and classifying China’s acts of arbitrary detention and deprivation of liberty. Such a drastic oversight has the potential to eliminate the credibility and distort the purpose and mandate of the Working Group and allow China to avoid any investigations into its own deplorable human rights record.

Another one of the 17 appointments that the UN Human Rights Council Consultative Group will choose is the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression. Freedom of opinion and expression is regularly violated in China; students, scholars, organizations, and activists who publicly proclaim views contrary to the CCP face imprisonment and exorbitant charges. 2019 saw the noteworthy arrests of three individuals: Zi Su of Chengdu for his article questioning the sustainability and adequacy of President Xi Jinping’s leadership of the CCP; activist Huang Xiaomin, also of Chengdu, for his promotion of direct elections for CCP leadership positions, and; Chen Yunfei for his online support of Hong Kong’s anti-extradition protests. A nation who unabashedly imprisons individuals for their valid beliefs and critiques of the government should not be authorized to have the power of choice over the selection of the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

Amidst the persistent and unmitigated spread of the novel coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, we also find it extremely inappropriate and unacceptable that China be involved in the vetting and selection process for the new Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health. In December 2019, ophthalmologist Dr. Li Wenliang of Wuhan Central Hospital, the initial “whistle-blower” regarding the novel coronavirus, warned a small group of his friends about the emergence of a SARS-like virus among a few of his patients. After his warning was spread to the mass public, he was severely reprimanded by the Wuhan Public Security Bureau for spreading ‘false information’ online and causing public concern. He was among eight other doctors in Wuhan who similarly began warning close individuals about the suspicious new cases and who were condemned as “rumormongers.” China had the sufficient time and capability to respond to the outbreak before it gained momentum and cost many Chinese citizens their lives before being exported to nearly every nation in the world, save for a few countries in South America and Africa. China’s refusal to acknowledge the rise of COVID-19 and subsequent refusal to acknowledge its responsibility for the prevalence of the new pandemic exhibit its failure to prioritize public health and therefore disqualifies China as a suitable member of the UN HRC Consultative Group.

Such an appointment comes as a surprise to us as well, considering the already-strained relationship China has with the United Nations and its selected rapporteurs and representatives. In December 2019, UN Human Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet wrote an article that the use of force by Chinese police against Hong Kong protesters is extraneous and should be investigated. In response, China claims her statements include “inappropriate comments on the situation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region” and “interferes in China’s internal affairs.” Moreover, when 23 United Nations member states supported a statement in October 2019 denouncing the detention of Uyghurs and other ethnic Muslim communities in Xinjiang, China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang urged the United States and United Kingdom to “stop interfering in others’ domestic affairs under the cover of human rights…” How can a nation that accepts no criticism of its human rights record and refuses to address the mass imprisonment of millions of citizens for no reason other than their ethno-religious background be a legitimate and reliable leader in the UN Human Rights Council Consultative Group? In addition, China is included in the 2019 UN Secretary-General report on intimidation and reprisals for cooperation with the UN in the field of human rights. It is absurd to have a country who targets activists and human rights defenders who engage with United Nations human rights mechanisms to then be allowed to have influence over those mechanisms which they have been working against.

It is with the above objections in mind that we condemn the designation of China as a member of the UN Human Rights Council Consultative Group. We ask that if the position cannot be reconsidered, that you as President take note of these voiced concerns during China’s one-year term, as you review upcoming proposed candidates by the UNHRC Consultative Group, to ensure the priorities suggested by the group are in line with the commitments of the Council. We ask that you be prepared, as President, to not follow the priority suggested by the group if there is any risk that the expert will be partial or restricted to speak freely, to ensure the integrity and credibility of the Human Rights Council and the future of international human rights.

Respectfully signed with great appreciation for your attention to these matters,

Roundtable begs Trump to take action for Hong Kong

Wednesday, July 1, 2020

(Washington, D.C.—July 1, 2020) The International Religious Freedom Roundtable (IRFR) issued a letter to President Trump regarding Hong Kong today.

The IRFR, a multi-faith group, released the letter the day after Beijing implemented Hong Kong’s National l Security Law. The new law positions China in authority over Hong Kong judicial system in cases of national security. National security-related charges are often given to religious people and activists in mainland China.

In light of Hong Kong’s eroding freedoms, the IRFR asked Trump to penalize 20 Chinese military-tied companies that do business in the U.S.

“By swiftly shutting down their operations inside the United States,” the letter read, “and terminating their access to our capital markets, (Trump) can simultaneously advance our national security interests and deliver a strong response to the (Chinese Communist Party) suppression of Hong Kong.”

Human Rights First Urges Canada, U.K., to Join Global Magnitsky Sanctions Against Chinese Officials Responsible for Violating the Rights of Uyghurs

ETA: Also at:

August 18, 2020

Dear Minister Champagne, Secretary Mnuchin, Secretary Pompeo, and Foreign Secretary Raab,

We, the 71 undersigned organizations dedicated to the promotion of universal

human rights and/or the fight against corruption, welcome the United Kingdom’s successful promulgation of its Global Human Rights Sanctions Regulations and initial tranche of 49 sanctions designations, as well as the United States’ recent actions under the Global Magnitsky sanctions program to designate senior Chinese leaders and entities responsible for egregious human rights violations in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (Uyghur Region) against Uyghurs and other Turkic and Muslim-majority peoples.

We write you in the context of these developments to urge greater coordination between your governments as one critical element in your broader strategies to promote respect for human rights and fight corruption globally, and to request that the British and Canadian governments use their respective targeted human rights sanctions programs to mirror recent actions undertaken by the US government.

The US government’s recent sanctions designations of Uyghur Region Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretary Chen Quanguo, other senior CCP officials, the Xinjiang Public Security Bureau (XPSB), and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps (XPCC) reflect actions long called for by the Uyghur activist community and many human rights organizations. These designations mark a significant step forward in terms of holding accountable the perpetrators of atrocities against the Uyghurs and other Turkic and Muslim-majority peoples.

We note, however, that the impact and perceived legitimacy of such sanctions will be bolstered if coordinated and implemented in conjunction with the governments of the United Kingdom and Canada. We encourage your governments to prioritize multilateralization of targeted human rights and anti-corruption sanctions, which among other benefits will have the manifest impact of expanding the reach of travel restrictions and asset freezes. This, in turn, will increase the costs for each sanctioned individual and entity to continue committing human rights abuses or acts of corruption, in the Uyghur Region or elsewhere, and serve as a more effective deterrent.

In this instance, we urge the US government to share the information it has used to inform its Uyghur Region-related Global Magnitsky designations with counterparts in Canada and the United Kingdom. Likewise, we urge the governments of Canada and the United Kingdom to act upon such information by announcing their own targeted sanctions against the listed perpetrators under the Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act and the Global Human Rights Sanctions Regulations, respectively.

More broadly, we encourage each of your ministries to formalize and routinize information-sharing concerning targeted sanctions relating to human rights abuses and corruption. By collaborating across borders, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom can make it much harder for perpetrators to evade sanctions enforcement.

Globalizing and harmonizing “Magnitsky-like” targeted sanctions programs represents a significant step towards ending impunity for many of the world’s worst crimes. We applaud each of your governments for the steps you are taking in this direction, and urge further integration as you move forward in this important work.

The Honorable ________________
United States House of Representatives or
Senate
Washington DC ____________

Dear Representative/Senator ____,

We write as an informal coalition of 150 organizations and individuals who are scholars, religious leaders, human rights advocates and practitioners to ask you to co-sponsor the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, (H.R. 6210 or S. 3471), to ensure that American product supply chains are not funding the Chinese government’s oppression of the Uyghurs and other Muslim groups in Xinjiang.

Forced labor programs are a chilling component of the CCP’s brutal campaign of repression of Xinjiang’s Muslims’ religious freedoms. China’s government is estimated to imprison over 1 million Muslims in “reeducation” camps where they face separation from their families, indoctrination, and torture. Unfortunately, the nightmare for many of these Muslims does not end at the walls of the camps. Chinese government officials coerce many former camp prisoners and local Muslim residents to work in government approved factories and other workplaces as part of their larger campaign to destroy their cultural identity and bring them under the complete control of the state.

Congress should ensure that American dollars are not funding this oppression through the importation of products made by forced labor from the Xinjiang Region. The New York Times reported that the products made off the backs of these oppressed people are going into several global supply chains of products such as textiles and personal protective equipment that are going to consumers in the United States.

Support for action on this issue comes from diverse and influential organizations such as those united under the Coalition to End Forced Labour in the Uyghur Region (EFLUR). Endorsing members of the coalition are ideologically diverse and represent many different sectors. They include over 200 advocacy, antislavery, labor rights, legal aid, and human rights organizations, as well as unions, among them the AFLCIO, Uyghur Human Rights Project, Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, Clean Clothes Campaign, and Lantos Foundation for Human Rights & Justice, and Human Rights Watch.

We join all of the endorsing organizations of the EFLUR, adding our voices as religious freedom organizations experts calling for ending the tainting of American supply chains with the forced labor of Uyghur people. The CCP has pursued this policy as a tool targeting ethnic and religious minorities in violation of their Article 18 freedom of religion or belief rights as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act would safeguard American consumers from unwittingly supporting the CCP’s oppression. Key provisions of the act would create the presumption that goods produced in the Xinjiang Region are made with forced labor and prohibited from importation into the U.S. under the Tariff Act of 1930, unless there is “clear and convincing evidence” that the goods were not made with forced labor. It would also hold foreign parties accountable by enabling sanctions on those who knowingly participate in the importation of the products emerging from this forced labor.

We urge you to contact the bill’s sponsor, Sen. Rubio or Rep. McGovern, to sign on as a co-sponsor to help advance this vital legislation. It will help ensure the integrity of America’s product supply chain and stand for those facing religious oppression in China. We thank you for your thoughtful consideration of this legislation.

Church of Scientology National Affairs Office joins letter to His Holiness Pope Francis calling on him to recognize the serious implications of any agreement with the People’s Republic of China.

September 8th, 2020

His Holiness Pope Francis
Apostolic Palace
00120 Vatican City

We write as an informal coalition of individuals and organizations to call on the Holy See to recognize the serious implications of any agreement with the People’s Republic of China. The Chinese Communist Party’s continuing war on religion is routinely conducted by means of crimes against humanity. We respectfully suggest that exemplary leadership by the Catholic Church is essential to resolving this tragic situation.

The Chinese authorities have declared their intention to rewrite all religious texts, including the Bible and the Qur’an, to “reflect socialist values” as defined by Chinese Communist Party Secretary Xi JinPing. Not only is the regime committing the ongoing genocide of the Uyghur people, it is also continuing its brutal oppression of Tibetans, Mongolians, citizens of Hong Kong, and all who speak out for human rights including the right of religious believers to practice their faith.

On September 26, 2018 Pope Francis sent a message to the Catholics of China, saying that the Church’s aim “in the dialogue with civil authorities is that of ‘building a relationship based on mutual respect and deeper understanding’”.

While the People’s Republic of China has never been truly open to religious practice, in the two years since this message the attitude of authorities in China toward religious freedom has deteriorated significantly. The Beijing regime has no interest in a genuine dialogue with religious believers, and it is painfully apparent that the regime has no respect for the sanctity of any human life. The regime not only persecutes house-church Protestant Christians and “underground” (i.e. faithful) Catholics but imprisons millions of Uyghur Muslims in concentration camps and has been credibly accused of singling out prisoners of conscience who are Falun Gong practitioners for organ harvesting prior to execution.

A decision by the Holy See to regularize the status of the Catholic Church in China by giving official recognition to the government-established and government-controlled “Catholic Patriotic Association” would not only exacerbate the hardships of the Catholic clergy and believers who have courageously resisted the government’s pressure to join this organization, but would also increase the suffering of other persecuted religious believers by allowing the regime to tout the agreement as a seal of approval for the regime’s approach to religion.

We therefore implore the Holy See not to cede the Beijing government any control over the Church in
China. We respectfully request that the Holy See not renew its agreement with the People’s Republic of China at least until such time as the authorities discontinue their campaign of genocide, crimes against humanity, and other grave human rights violations against religious believers.

With great concern,

WASHINGTON, D.C.—On April 25th, 134 influential government, military, business and public policy leaders, freedom-fighters and other, patriotic citizens sent an open letter to President Trump expressing their strong opposition to the imminent investment of the retirement funds of military personnel, active and retired, and past and present civilian federal government employees in “malevolent” Chinese companies. The letter, which was sponsored by the Committee on the Present Danger: China (CPDC), calls on Mr. Trump to prevent such Thrift Savings Plan funds from “enriching the Chinese Communist Party [CCP], and enabling its further malevolence directed at the United States.

I agree with the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office and disagree with Apple.

As I have previously noted, the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office has repeatedly expressed its support for the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act:

Church of Scientology joins attack on The People's Republic of China: "DON'T FUND OUR ENEMY."

Church of Scientology joins attack on The People's Republic of China: "DON'T FUND OUR ENEMY."

Today, the Washington Post is reporting that Apple is lobbying against the Act, trying to weaken it..

Apple lobbyists are trying to weaken a new law aimed at preventing forced labor in China, according to two congressional staffers familiar with the matter, highlighting the clash between its business imperatives and its official stance on human rights.

The Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act would require U.S. companies to guarantee they do not use imprisoned or coerced workers from the predominantly Muslim region of Xinjiang, where academic researchers estimate the Chinese government has placed more than 1 million people into internment camps. Apple is heavily dependent on Chinese manufacturing, and human rights reports have identified instances in which alleged forced Uighur labor has been used in Apple’s supply chain.

SWEDEN: Facing deportation back to China – 17 NGOs write to Prime Minister | Human Rights Without Frontiers

* * * * * BEGIN EXCERPT * * * * *

A petition to Excellency Stefan Lo fven Prime Minister of Sweden organized by the Freedom of Religion or Belief Roundtable Brussels-EU ̈

Dear Prime Minister,

Brussels, the 8th of February 2020 (sic)

The undersigned organizations wish to express their deep concern about the case of Baolige Wurina and his family, who are facing deportation from Sweden.

As you know, China continues what Human Rights Watch has called “the worst human rights crackdown in the post-Tiananmen period. If Wurina is deported to China, he is almost certain to face incarceration and torture, and Sweden will have violated the European Convention on Human Rights.

Baolige fled to Sweden ten years ago from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region of China (IMAR), after facing persecution from Chinese authorities for his rights activism. Since arriving in Sweden, Swedish authorities have refused to grant him asylum and ordered his deportation. Baolige and his wife, together with their two children, are waiting now for the Migration Court of Appeal—the last instance to decide on asylum cases in Sweden—to decide whether he will be granted Swedish protection. If the court decides on deportation, the family will be split apart. While Baolige will be sent to China, his wife, who is Mongolian, will be sent to Mongolia with their children.

Swedish authorities claim that Baolige is unable to prove that Chinese authorities constitute a threat towards him personally, even though Baolige has continued his rights activism in Sweden. He has participated in protests against China in front of the Chinese embassy, where he says embassy staff photographed the protesters. Swedish authorities have rejected the claim as “speculation,” even though China is known for its surveillance and targeting of citizens who have fled the country.

The case law of the European Court of Human Rights requires the Swedish court to examine the consequences of sending Baolige back to China, bearing in mind not only his personal circumstances, which certainly seem to warrant Swedish protection, but also the general situation in China.

The decision to deport Baolige seems based on a misreading of the general situation in Inner Mongolia—perhaps because China’s human rights abuses there are less known than those committed in Tibet and Xinjiang—but the situation is very grave and Sweden’s embassy in China appears fully aware of that. On December 10, the embassy published a statement by the EU delegation in China:

The EU… continues to be gravely concerned about the serious deterioration of the human rights situation in Xinjiang, Tibet and Inner Mongolia [our emphasis]. In addition to reports on continued large-scale extra-judicial detentions, severe and systemic restrictions on freedom of expression and association, and on freedom of religion or belief, there are growing concerns about the alleged use of forced labour, forced family separations and forced sterilization.

This fall China initiated a “dual language” policy in IMAR, similar to measures previously taken in Tibet and Xinjiang, according to which Chinese is now the language of instruction in primary and secondary school for numerous subjects previously taught in Mongolian. The policy caused widespread protests in IMAR and a subsequent crackdown by Chinese authorities. The Southern Mongolian Human Rights Centre (SMHRIC) estimates that 8,000-10,000 ethnic Mongolians have been placed under some form of police custody in IMAR since late August.

“The punitive measures…” wrote the SMHRIC, “include mass arrest, arbitrary detention, forced disappearance…house arrest…termination of employment, removal from official positions… and denial of access to financial resources…”

“Methods of coerced assimilation via police-state tactics, which have been used extensively in Xinjiang and Tibet, are now also being enforced in Inner Mongolia,” according to Dr. Willy Wo-Lap Lam, an Adjunct Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, in a report for the Jamestown Foundation in September. “…Other harsh measures already used include: the imprisonment of political dissidents; closure of anti-Beijing social media chat rooms; and even the collection of DNA from ethnic minority residents.”

Minister of Justice and Migration, Morgan Johansson, was recently asked whether the Swedish government would cease deportations to Inner Mongolia. “I note,” responded Johansson, “that the system we have for asylum review in Sweden contains effective guarantees to ensure a legally secure process.”

That does not appear to be the case, however, when Swedish migration authorities clearly lack crucial information in their decision-making process. Such lack of information has already had tragic consequences: We must remind you that in 2012, Sweden deported two Uyghurs who had participated in demonstrations in Sweden in front of the Chinese embassy, just like Baolige. “I know that they had participated in demonstrations held by the Swedish Uyghur community in front of the Chinese embassy in Stockholm,” World Uyghur Congress spokesman Dilshat Raxit said at the time. “This is enough fodder for the Chinese authorities to punish them severely”. The two Uyghurs were never seen or heard from again. The tragedy forced Sweden to temporarily stop the deportations of Uyghurs to China.

We fear that Baolige may have to pay with his life in order for Sweden to stop the deportations of ethnic Mongolians to China. We respectfully ask for your attention and, if possible, your assistance to prevent this deportation.

Most respectfully,

Among the exhibitor partners is the Campaign for Uyghurs and the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office.

The Church of Scientology has in the past formed a strategic alliance with the Christian far right under the belief that the ostensible fight for religious freedom could ultimately benefit their operations; the IRF Summit being the latest example. In country-specific reports from the US State Department, alleged discrimination against Scientologists is frequently cited. As Scientology is banned in countries like Russia and China, it has found common cause with its one-time enemy, the United States government.

Aided by Freedom of Information Act Requests and leaked documents from former cult members, Miller unveiled an unflattering portrait of the organization’s founder.

In an effort to evade authorities and set up a safe haven for his cult, L. Ron Hubbard unsuccessfully attempted to flee to Rhodesia, apartheid era Zimbabwe. He also believed he was British imperialist and mining magnate Cecil Rhodes (from whom Rhodesia took its name) in a previous life. But Rhodesian authorities refused to renew Hubbard’s visa. Eventually, Hubbard purchased a fleet of ships and took to the seas, where his inner circle consisted of “messengers.”

These messengers were “little nymphets in hot pants and halter tops who ran errands for him and competed with each other to find ways of pleasing him. Eventually they helped him dress and undress, performed little domestic tasks like washing his hair and smearing rejuvenating cream on his fleshy features, and even followed him around with an ashtray to catch the falling ash from his cigarettes,” according to Miller’s biography. Those who got on Hubbard’s wrong side were confined in darkness in the chain locker and delivered food in a bucket. Hubbard ordered one man who dropped a bow-line to be thrown overboard.

At the Church of Scientology National Affairs Office booth inside the Ambassador’s Ballroom at the IRF Summit, I picked up a large amount of literature, most of which was branded under Youth for Human Rights, a front for the Church of Scientology. Another human rights front for the cult is called United For Human Rights, which owns the HumanRights.com domain name.

One booklet I obtained branded under Youth for Human Rights claims that the organization is “active in 197 countries & territories” and that 50,000 schools, institutions and groups use their education program. In a DVD I obtained from the booth it claims “at the UN’s Human Rights headquarters in Geneva the voices of tomorrow’s leaders are given a form at the International Youth for Human Rights Summit. Young delegates from 42 nations speak out for human rights.”

The DVD shows footage of the United Nations with a United for Human Rights banner prominently displayed overhead. The narrator claims that “Linking with every like-minded humanitarian organization plus every minority organization, Youth for Human Rights became an official voice of the Danish Human Rights Council.”

”Then there is Guatemala,” the narrator continues, “where the United for Human Rights curriculum rolled out to some 22,000 Guatemalan soldiers from the National Naval Academy to the Security Army Brigade and the Ministry of Defense and Guatemalan Army Command, all culminating in a permanent partnership to implement United for Human Rights on behalf of more than 1.5 million people.”

The DVD then shows footage of Youth for Human Rights’ public service announcements playing “on Argentinian trains, at Cape Town International Airport, an Athens soccer coach convention, St. Petersburg shopping center.”

This is the first part of an investigation into the IRF Summit. In the next article I will reveal more cults sponsoring the IRF Summit which given de-facto
endorsement by high level leaders of the Democratic Party. The following piece will also discuss the various “breakout session” attacking China and expose the shady characters hosting them.
