We got a tip that Karen Bass, a Los Angeles politician who reportedly has been considered by Joe Biden as a potential VP pick, is listed on our website as someone who spoke at the LA Ideal Org grand opening.

We wondered if she was really in the running (Kamala Harris seems like the frontrunner), and we stupidly thought we might get to wait until a choice was announced. We also got extremely busy with our big scoop this week -- Leah Remini's missing 'Troublemaker' chapter, and never got back around to the Karen Bass story.

This afternoon the Daily Caller broke the story, and our Twitter feed is burning up.

If Biden defeats Trump, he may only serve one term and so his VP choice has a pretty decent chance of becoming president. Should that be a person with the poor judgment to accept Scientology's invitation to help open an Ideal Org? Yikes.

What a politician says before they are elected and after election are sometimes diagonally opposite.
The flip flop is bi -polar and incredulous sometimes.

excerpt:

The Daily Caller this afternoon broke a story that we’ve had evidence of on our website here at the Underground Bunker for a couple of years: That former California Assembly Speaker and current US Representative Karen Bass was one of the featured speakers at the 2010 grand opening of a Scientology ‘Ideal Org’ in Los Angeles.

That’s suddenly now a big story because Bass is reportedly one of the women presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden is considering to be his running mate.

If Biden is elected at 77, his choice of Vice President is especially crucial, since he may serve only one term. Who he picks for VP would have a serious leg up on becoming president in turn.

And should that be someone who had the lack of judgment to accept an invitation from Scientology to speak at an Ideal Org opening?

"Tony shared that Farrakhan recognizes there are good Jews but also there are Jews that are his enemy and said in the audio snippet the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) is his enemy and that if they continue to attack legitimate Black leaders, “White folks you are going down.”
However, Min. Tony did speak highly of two Black congressional representatives, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (California) and Congresswoman Karen Bass (California).

“I have to say, I thank God for {Congresswoman} Maxine Waters and Congresswoman Karen Bass,” said Tony. “I think our Black politicians should stand down. Minister Farrakhan will take a call from a Maxine Waters or Karen Bass
. He will stop what he’s doing… come and correct him, he’s told them. But don’t let anyone tell you I’ve done something wrong without checking."
Your story says that Tony Muhammad praised Bass. The story doesn't say Bass said anything about Tony Muhammad, much less that she praised him.

Hermant Mehta has a different take:

Rep. Karen Bass Praised the Church of Scientology in 2010. It’s Not a Big Deal.

But he does say:

The flip-side of that is… how do you not know about Scientology? It’s not like it wasn’t messed up before 2010. They oppose psychiatry and psychiatric drugs. They brainwash people. Has anyone seen Shelly Miscavige lately? But it’s easy for people familiar with Scientology to say that; remember that most people don’t have the Church on their radar at all.

Tony Ortega, a journalist who has covered the Church for decades, summed up the Bass controversy rather bluntly: “It’s not a good look.” But that’s about the worst of it. Ortega offered some advice too, adding that “a word about how she has nothing to do with Scientology today, and that she is concerned by the revelations brought out by people like Leah Remini would go a long way.” I completely agree
.
* * * * * END EXCERPT * * * * *

Politics has temporarily placed Scientology in the world news. Wow. Ms. Bass should receive a Scientology "Commendation" for her previous and now unexpected Scientology "dissemination".
