What a year of anniversaries this has been. May 9 was the 75th anniversary of the publication of Dianetics, which started everything. This year also saw the 30th anniversary of the death of Lisa McPherson and the 20th of the death of Stacy Moxon Meyer. It was the 20th year since Marc and Claire Headley escaped Int Base, and also 20 years since Shelly Miscavige was banished.

And with just a few days left in the year, 2025 has one last milestone for us.

It was on this date in 1950, 75 years ago, that Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard was last convicted of a crime in a court hearing.

$50 Fine Paid by Inventor of Dianetics

L. Ron Hubbard, 39-year-old inventor of dianetics and author of a best seller on the subject, yesterday paid a $50 fine in Municipal Court.

Hubbard was found guilty of having violated a Vehicle Code section which prohibits “leaving standing a locked vehicle in which there was then a person who could not readily escape therefrom.”
