For Current Scientologists That Are Curious

So you are a current Scientologist, and for whatever reason, you have come to this website out of curiosity. I was like you, about three years ago, I did the same thing. I knew something was odd, and because of a sequence of events, I started looking.

I was in for around thirty years. Was on class V org staff for around seven years. I'm clear, attested just a few years back. I've done three L's. There are two of us in our household, and between the two of us, we have donated over 500k to various things (ideal orgs, IAS, etc.) not including bridge.

I will say that I was a dedicated, gung-ho Scientologist. Some of the people that post on this blog had left Scientology before I had stepped foot in an org. Some of the people that post here were Sea Org staff. Many were tech trained and admin trained. Some who post here were elite Scientologists.

I have been talking to a friend that is still in. He said that he looked on the internet back in the 90's to see if there was something he should know before he got into it. He said that he didn't see anything that would stop him, and that more or less, the people posting had an axe to grind, or were just bitter, unreasonably. Unfortunately for him and his young family, that is not true.

I am appealing to that doubt that made you look. You are correct, there are many things that are not right. It will not be an easy journey for you, trust me. It's been three years for me, and I'm still in awe of how I got to where I am.

You must seek the truth, and this is a good first step.

The first, most important thing to acknowledge is that you got something out of Scientology. I did. I did learn a lot, and for the better. I was awakened to many things that were there in the environment around me, and I was awakened to things about me. I got wins from auditing, and kept paying for more. I wanted to do the entirety of the bridge. There are many that post on this blog that have gone all the way up the bridge. But take note that they are here.

There is something more to know about why this would be so, isn't there?

I am not trying to answer that question for you, or for them, and I actually believe that it is different for the differing people that are here. You should look into this for yourself, to discover how that could be.

Additionally, this blog does not house all former Scientologists that exist, far from it. Many don't even drop by anymore, they are just getting along with their lives. I am here because I am actively watching what is said, still trying to find a few truths and clues about things. I read most everything that is posted here, and often go to other places on the interwebs to see what has been written about Scientology.

Leaving is a complicated process mentally.
I, too, got some good things out of Scientology and it was a huge learning event, good and bad, in my life.
After the initial, very good results (for me) at the bottom of the Bridge, I realized that similar results did not happen further up.
I did my OT levels, became highly trained but kept realizing that there was an undercurrent of madness in the materials.
I started looking more and more, reading "forbidden" materials and realized that my perceptions of dishonesty and lies was correct.
There is no such thing as Clear or OT.
The whole enterprise is a reflection of Hubbard's insanity and he had the ability to take over your thinking and decision process and convince you that things existed that really didn't.
I left. And I was right.

You probably are like me, I went to ALL the events, I read the Scientology publications. I had concerns about some of the statistics and stories where I knew the actual data, since I was there and had seen and knew the truth. I noticed that there was a standard exaggeration that went on. It bothered me, but I used to write it off because I was a gung-ho Scientologist. What got me to look at the internet was the continual boasting of how many Scientologists that there were. I heard the number "Ten Million" used one too many times. When I searched for that, and believe me, I was not going to look at it if I thought it contained OT data, or anything that might cripple my Scientology future. But what I found was that specific point, because I was not the first person to question the numbers that we were being told.

Go ahead and search that. You will see what I mean.

In case you didn't know, there are thousands of ex-COS-members who have spoken out about the cult.

See the following list for a WEALTH of links, including to video, audio, court testimony etc.

@TrevAnon, so glad you posted. When I was looking but being very careful, the big list really got my attention. I didn't drill down on the names at first, but I recognized many of the respected names of Scientologists in the past. I knew a lot of those people, or had heard of them.

I like this thread.

If I had to offer one harmless little piece of advice to Scientologists who are flirting with the idea committing the "crime" of looking around the internet, it would be this.

BY HUBBARD'S OWN WORDS, SCIENTOLOGISTS SHOULD DEVOTE THEIR ENTIRE LIVES TO ACHIEVING "TOTAL FREEDOM": SO, YOU ARE A SCIENTOLOGIST. AND THEREFORE YOU HAVE INVESTED TIME AND MONEY TO MOVE ALONG THAT BRIDGE IN THE DIRECTION OF TOTAL FREEDOM. THUS, YOU HAVE ALREADY AQUIRED FOR YOURSELF SOME (NOT ALL) OF THAT TOTAL FREEDOM, RIGHT? OKAY, YOU EXCHANGED FOR & EARNED THAT FREEDOM, RIGHT? SO, WHY DON'T YOU USE SOME OF YOUR TOTAL FREEDOM BY FEELING "FREE" TO LOOK AT WHATEVER YOU WANT ON THE INTERNET? ISN'T FREEDOM SOMETHING YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO USE? IMAGINE EARNING DOLLARS AND HAVING THE FEELING THAT IT WAS A CRIME TO SPEND THEM. HERE IS THE TRUTH. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON THE INTERNET OR ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE PHYSICAL WORLD THAT IT IS NOT OKAY TO LOOK AT. IF ANYONE HAS CONVINCED YOU THAT YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO LOOK, THEY ARE TRYING TO TELL YOU THAT TOTAL FREEDOM IS NOT TOTAL. AND THEY ARE INFORMING YOU THAT YOU ARE NOT FREE TO USE TO USE YOUR FREEDOM. IT EITHER IS OR IS AIN'T FREEDOM. YOU EITHER ARE FREE TO LOOK AT ANYTHING OR YOU AREN'T. SO HAVE SOME FUN AND LOOK AT EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN MOON & STARS. PEOPLE WHO WANT YOU TO BE AFRAID TO LOOK ARE NOT YOUR FRIENDS. IF EVEN LITTLE KIDS & BABIES FEEL FREE TO LOOK AT WHATEVER THEY WANT----YOU CAN TOO!

@HelluvaHoax! makes a great point, and actually maybe the most basic point about this. Why would you be harmed in looking? Well, we were pretty well trained that there wasn't any good that could come of it. It was all people with massive amounts of w/h's, mu's, you name it, that would speak badly of the only thing that can set man free. No one would ever talk badly of Scientology, unless they were insane or evil. Done. You don't need to think for your own self (Another story). My friend that I referred to earlier made a point, which I have heard and used myself, "All new religions have detractors." Interesting how that stops one from having to think. So now, using this datum, you can go do anything that you want because if anyone says anything bad, you can always fall back on "All new religions have detractors."

Well, there is also doing lowers and paying for several intensives of sec check. There is that. Been there, done that. I've got the tax returns to prove it!!

If you're currently in Scientology, but you are looking here, it could be that you've heard the noise and wonder if there is anything to it. You are certain about being a Scientologist, but maybe you want to know how your friends that are in Scientology might get swayed by all the entheta. You are grazing through this to see if there is something to know, something that might indicate to you that there is something wrong. It's like seeing that one opportunistic weed growing in the grass that sprouts up. There are bunches of grumblings all over the internet about Scientology. It's not hard to miss. Back when I was like you, I hated it. None of that noise gives you a reason not to be a Scientologist. As a matter of fact, it sort of galvanized my resolve to soldier through until the world cognited. The world hasn't cognited yet. In spite of golden age of tech, new meters, Scientology TV, clears and OTs. You know this yourself, and you probably do wonder this yourself.

Why, in spite of all things that Scientology does and can do for people, is it still so small?

To the current Scientologist,

Hello!! You are reading this, which is pretty daring.

I was involved for around thirty years, and would not have dreamed of being somewhere like this reading what was posted. At least not for the first twenty-seven years. I "accidentally" read a few things, and got away with it. I knew some others that read a few things, but for the most part, I think that people within the church kept any such activity to themselves. I imagine someone like @Karakorum could verify that was occurring. I only had one fellow SCN'ist say something directly, and had a few SCN'ist friends say something in sort of a toss off manor, like they had heard something. I could be innocently watching something on TV, and sure enough, some jab at Scientology. I really chapped me. I know that you have experienced that. It is an indicator. It is an out-point. Isn't it? But how can you resolve that without knowing why people would say such things, or why it would be ok for someone to write it into a script? Someone somewhere probably has a list of any negative reference made about Scientology in a movie, TV show, etc. I would have said that was a long list back when I was still "In", and I was pretty damn in.

postscript:

It's a curious paradox. Scientologists believe that L. Ron Hubbard was the "Ideal OT". They believe that he unlocked and discovered the secrets of the universe by looking everywhere for truth. Confronting all, whether good or evil. Only by looking at all the data was Hubbard able to discover a miraculous pathway out of the MEST universe trap that all beings have been enslaved in for quadrillions of years.

Further, Hubbard advises -- actually mandates-- that all Scientologists follow his "successful actions" in order to themselves become an Ideal OT.

But Scientologists are not allowed to look anything without first getting permission.

Hubbard never did that!

How does that work exactly?

ETHICS OFFICER
You are hereby assigned a condition of TREASON for
looking at forbidden things in the MEST universe.

PC
Can you be a little more specific?

ETHICS OFFICER
I have a Knowledge Report right here from an OT VIII
Billy Blowdown, that he was at Starbucks and saw
you on your laptop. And you were looking at a website
where ex-Scientologists were talking about their experiences.

PC
Damn! Now what?

ETHICS OFFICER
Now you lose your eternity, unless of course you successfully work out of
TREASON and all the way up the conditions. You do realize that what
you did was a "High Crime" and a "Suppressive Act", don't you?

PC
Didn't Ron look at everything when he researched Scientology?

ETHICS OFFICER
Yes, of course he did, but that's totally different.

PC
How is that any different than me looking at things?

ETHICS OFFICER
Well, obviously Ron's very first discovery was that there was only one
being in the universe that would not get over-restimulated and die
by looking at everything. That one being was L. Ron Hubbard!

PC
Seriously? Only one person in the universe is allowed to look?
LOL. Did you just make that shit up?

ETHICS OFFICER
Hey, Ron didn't make anything up! He's a scientist and
this discovery is part of a modern science of mental health!

PC
I don't know, dude, it doesn't sound like science.

ETHICS OFFICER
Are you a scientist?

PC
Um, well--no.

ETHICS OFFICER
Okay then! Are you now satisfied and ready
to begin working on your TREASON formula?

PC
Sure, and thanks a million for being so patient and
giving me so many awesome theta r-factors!

That brings to mind the Hubbarian maxim: "Look don't think." Well, I'd say one should look AND think about what one observed.

How long will you avoid the fact that Scn is shrinking, that the promoted PR of Scn expansion and effects on the 4th D are lame at best? When will you look at those supposed OTs and realize they are NOT. How long will it take to realize that there are no more OT levels coming after a 30+ year wait? How much more of your hard-earned cash and future retirement funds will you throw down the rat-hole of the do-nothing IAS? Has your shiny Ideal Org changed ANYTHING AT ALL over how is was before - aside from draining your coffers. Still no TP in the bathrooms? Can you confront the unconfrontable? I think you can. Splurge on it!

Anything you would like to add

Hello to all scientologists who might be reading this now. When it comes to "reading entheta on the web" - congratulations for having the guts to do it.

When the church addresses the wog world they tell them: "There are two sides to every story" and encourages them to learn about both:

At the same time, the church vehemently discourages you from seeing both sides of the story. Paid sec checks... you know the drill.

It almost sounds like the church trusts wogs more and holds them up to a higher standard ("yeah they can see both sides of the story and make their own judgement") while keeping you and other church members to lower standards ("no, they can't be trusted to know both sides. They are too stupid to think for themselves").

So why the double standard? Shouldn't you be the one given more trust? Think about that.

There is nothing wrong about you reading this forum or other websites. You too have a right to know both sides of the story, regardless what your local EO might say (heck, I was an EO once). See both sides, make your own judgement.

Now the current management doesn't want you do it that, because they do not enjoy tough questions. Questions like:

- "If going up the bridge is the most important thing, then why do I end up working 120+ hour long work weeks with no time to go up that bridge?!"
- "If scientology is the fastest growing religion, why won't you let me have kids? They will be new scientologists, don't you know?!"
- "If Hubbard provides so many pro-life, anti-abortion arguments in Dianetics, why are you pressuring me to get an abortion?!"
- "Fair exchange under Hubbard meant paying for auditing. Why are we now repeatedly asked for expensive *donations* instead of getting high quality auditing?"

If KSW is to stand for "keep Scientology working" rather than "keep Scientology weak", then there needs to be open dialogue in the church. There needs to be room for tough questions to be asked and answered. The management needs to man up and stand up to criticism, changing some of its methods if necessary.

So, if you see things within the church that are not as they are intended to be, you should be allowed to speak up. If that does not help, you should be free to leave the church... but better yet: Don't allow yourself to be pressured to leave, just take your org back.

If enough people stand up, the current management will need to yield or kick everyone out. If they kick everyone out, then you will be the church and they will be the ones who locked themselves out.

So... stay, leave or take the church back. The decision is yours, but any decisions should be made knowing both sides of the story.

Thirty years in

Out in 2017

FSMd by an "upstat and able" friend. He is no longer in.

One hell of an ethics cycle made me WAKE UP.

The huge amount of doubt about it all became so large that I was exiting quietly, but decided to join staff once again. This after three Ls, clear, tons of training. I saw public lied to on a continual basis by senior Sea Org people. It was habitual. I attended events where the stats at my org were falsified. These were Int events.

There is more.

Another thing I'd like to point your attention to: People who left the church like me are presented within the church as some sort of uniform mass - we all are in perfect cahoots with each other, we follow the same leaders and support the same psychiatry establishment.

If you read through the forums, you will see that this is not the case. The ex-scientologist community is divided on almost every topic - especially politics (just look at this thread for evidence). But the differences do not end there - some of us support Mike Rinder, other criticize him mercilessly. Some support modern psychology and psychiatry, some are vehemently opposed to it. Some of us abandoned the tech entirely, while some continue to use strictly the original standard tech as devised by Hubbard.

We are all free to do so.

This plethora of views and opinions is the result of us being able to freely look at "both sides of the story". Any story. There is nothing wrong in reading even very evil material and rejecting it. That's better than not reading and not knowing what to expect. The church does not ban you from reading "entheta" because it will make you stronger, it does so because it will make you less aware. Do bans like these really align themselves with "total freedom"?

This is soooo true. I never would have read Mike Rinder's blog, or Tony Ortega. These guys were anathema. Leah Remini, Debbie Cook. HBO's "Going Clear". The Aftermath. I had seen or heard the dead agent material. I didn't begin to read those blogs until I was far gone. I already had come to the conclusion on things that you could find on Wiki, data available to all that wanted to see it. Factual data.

I hope that you are still reading this thread. There has been a lot of ground covered. Just like Scientology itself, leaving Scientology contains tons of material, and a long history, because the truth most certainly contains some astonishing things from the past.

I hope you keep going!

I looked at L. Ron Hubbard's death certificate. He had a drug in his system. That drug was Vistaril.

Vistaril is either used for allergies or for psychotic breaks.

L. Ron Hubbard developed the science that made one stably exterior with full perception where you, the thetan, can be compared to a thumb while the body is compared to a sliver stuck in the thumb.

Sliver in Thumb.jpg

L. Ron Hubbard developed the science of L-12 that makes a thetan virtually impossible to be PTS.

L. Ron Hubbard developed the science of the Asthma/Allergy Rundown.

L. Ron Hubbard developed the science of dropping a body at Cause...causatively.

That means that there's absolutely no way that Vistaril can be in the body of L. Ron Hubbard who developed a science where ingesting a single aspirin prevents one from auditing for a week.

L. Ron Hubbard developed the science of running Black and White on a body that heals all things, etc.

There is no way that L. Ron Hubbard suffered from allergies. That would mean that he had an illness and was PTS. That would mean that he was out ethics and the tech of the Asthma/Allergy Rundown didn't work. That would mean that he wasn't at Cause over MEST (the body) and that he wasn't stably exterior with full perception.

There is no way that someone injected L. Ron Hubbard without his knowing because that would mean that he was PTS and that the various Ls don't work...or that he was too out ethics for them to work...or that he wasn't stably exterior enough to see this attack coming...or that he wasn't at Cause.

There is no way that L. Ron Hubbard had a psychotic break. That's not even thinkable in Scientology. That would mean that a psych drug was administered to L. Ron Hubbard. That means that the entire schtick is fake, false, phoney, faux.

Finally, it would mean that the coroner had to falsify the death certificate.

But if this were the case then Scientology would stage an all out assault to get the fake removed and this has never, ever happened.

Instead, Scientology has remained quiet on this topic and/or attempted clandestinely to hide it...remove it.

Scientology pretends that this isn't there.

Where is L. Ron Hubbard's hat write up?

I became suspicious when the Church of Scientology began operating with IRS policy instead of L. Ron Hubbard policy.

I was intimately familiar with PCs being denied service because of familial ties to military, government and those who had had classified status in the past...those connected to members of the family who had had security clearances through the government. These were illegal PCs and had to petition every single step with multiple denials, etc.

Nowhere in any of the various policies of L. Ron Hubbard was anyone ever denied service due to the government attacking them or the IRS coming after them.

L. Ron Hubbard stated in multiple policies, bulletins, tapes, lectures, stories and such that tax representatives were thieves...that the IRS, in particular, were suppressives and that these thieves punished production and rewarded non production.

In L. Ron Hubbard's OT material people were imprisoned into the MEST bodies by fake tax audits.

L. Ron Hubbard and the Church of Scientology had been at war with the IRS for almost its entire existence.

L. Ron Hubbard formed the Sea Org and set sail to escape this suppression.

Flag was founded in the very same way...as was the Sea Org.

L. Ron Hubbard went all Fabian to escape this suppression.

Mary Sue Hubbard was sentenced to prison for taking a paper by the suppressive IRS.

Finally, David Miscavige won the war and there was the War is Over celebration!!!

Then...suddenly...the very Church founded by L. Ron Hubbard began to deny services to Scientologists because of IRS debts.

This became very weird for me to understand.

How could the Church of Scientology stop operating with L. Ron Hubbard policy and suddenly begin to run with IRS policy?

What I found out was that Meade Emory, the number two guy at the IRS during the years it prosecuted Mary Sue and the Church of Scientology, later becomes the guy hired to restructure all of Scientology.

How is that possible?

How can a Scientologist be denied services as an illegal PC because of government connections and then the number two SP on the planet is hired to reorganize Scientology after putting Mary Sue in prison?

That means that the entire PTS tech is fake. That means that the entire illegal PC line due to this is fake.

I don't even need to go into "the government stole Scientology". All I need to know is that people are being called illegal while the biggest SP in Scientology history is hired by Scientology, Inc. Meade Emory is one of the main reasons L. Ron Hubbard was in hiding.
