Losing the plot

There is an intact monster called the "Church of Scientology" still sucking people in and devouring their minds and lives. And instead of focusing on doing something to help prevent what is now going on, it seems like their are a lot of small-minded self-indulgent oddballs diverting attention to stirring and directing bad attitudes toward someone who once stood with them and now speaks out against the cult. Makes no sense. Some self-absorbed folks really need to wake up and get a grip on what the point is.

I won't mention any names, but some of the small-minded self-indulgent oddballs are worse than others.

I'm surmising that must be "Alanzo" (aka Alan Stansfield). He's in rarified air, in a class by himself (well, and all his "BT's", of course) :)

my guess is that OSA is doing a fair bit if not a lot to stoke that, too....

talk about 'useful idiots'.

I think for the past 12-15 years, OSA has been enjoying the benefits of field paranoia about the depth, length and breadth of their activities.I don't think they've done very much over that time of any real impact. I think these days, the activities of OSA stooges are largely keeping record of mentions of Scientology, monitoring sites, creating and maintaining propaganda sites and emails, i.e., busy work to "keep the stats up". With all the exposure they've gotten, and the attention from Tony Ortega, Aftermath crew, Aaron, others around the world and all their contributors, unwinnable legal battles, etc, they're more wary about screwing up and accumulating PR disasters than before the flood of proactive forces emerged. I'm not inclined to agree with or sell the idea that OSA is any kind of force to be reckoned with anymore. They aren't, and they'd love getting the help to present a facade of a faux fearsome reputation.

I believe they're just as active now as ever. It doesn't seem that way because the number of active SPs from their perspective has increased exponentially over the past 15 years so the percentage of perceived enemies they can Fair Game is much much smaller.

Just in the past week, they killed the billboard project in Los Angeles and Phil Jones got assaulted at the scene of the billboard and it is fortunate he wasn't seriously injured. I don't believe that that was a coincidence. Same with all the other violent assaults on the protesters around the country.

There is more we can get away with now without being fair gamed because there are so many of us but it still is happening for some people and the CoS is still killing people's pets (allegedly, of course). :coolwink:

Everything We Know About the Civil Suit Against Danny Masterson and the Church of Scientology

Excerpt:

Two anonymous Jane Doe accusers and a woman named Marie Bobette Riales, who dated Masterson in 2003, also have accused the 45-year-old actor of rape. And in 2019, the four women, along with Carnell Bixler’s husband Cedric Bixler-Zavala, lead singer of the Mars Volta, sued Masterson and the church, claiming they were “systematically stalked” after going to the police. Among their allegations: that church members staked out their homes, sent them threatening messages, and subjected them to everything from wiretapping to hacking and credit card fraud. Carnell Bixler and Bixler-Zavala even claim Scientologists killed their dog.

Can't we all just get along?
See? That's what happens when all these people get outta the church and then go runnin' helter-skelter in all sorts of directions. Happy as a baboon in the bush with no dscipline.

What we need here is a proper application of good ol' harsh ethics. Send these people to me for a ~7 hour long metered confessional (paid out of their own pockets). Then they would all get along...
...or else.

🎵 He's prolly drinking coffee and smokin' big cigars 🎵

Coincidence? Ain't no such thing as far as OSA goes.

Well....certainly a nice sentiment.... A lofty goal....

But the facts say pretty much.....we can't.

I think the best approach (one I'm probably guilty of violating at times  ) was envisioned by Ethercat back when she was an Admin on the original ESMB. I'm excerpting bits from her post but her full post is here:

<snip>
Think of what a boring world it would be if everyone agreed on everything, and no one were allowed to hold any different ideas. Think of how little progress would be made, both in our own thinking and in new methods of doing things. Why, it would almost be like being in a .... well.... a cult.
<snip>
there will be a strengthened effort made on the part of the staff to end personal attacks on and insults made to people, no matter how unpopular their ideas may be. You are free to attack the ideas, but not the holder of those ideas. We also ask that you refrain from deliberately provoking these types of abuse.

If you think you might be one of those people that this message is directed toward, you might want to examine your own posting style; however this message is a general notice to all who post here.

This courtesy will also extend to people who are not members here (LRH and DM are the only exceptions), for the simple reason that they can still read and be hurt by the things posted about them even if they're not members. Why make people feel bad unnecessarily?

Attack ideas and actions = OK.
Attack people = Not OK.

Ok, but I can still say that I disagree with Joe Shmoe or that I find some of their actions or behavior to be detrimental, unhelpful, self-defeating, disingenious, a footbullet etc?

You know me. I remain civil, but I also want to retain my ability to call a spade for what it is.

IE: Can I continue to say that I believe that Marty was paid off by OSA (and then list my arguments why I believe so)?

I mean I know your heart is in the right place. I just want to double-check that we are on the same page. I would rather ask now than word-clear the forum rules at a later date ;)

There are a lot of actions done by Marty well deserving of "attack". :D
And I can't conceive of any other motivation that would cause him to act in the way he did other than being paid off by CoS.

I think the rule of Attack ideas = OK, Attack people = Not OK is a rule that can be reasonably followed 99% of the time. But it's not written in stone. :D

Calling a spade a spade (y)

"Call a spade a spade" is a figurative expression. It refers to calling something "as it is"[1]—that is, by its right or proper name, without "beating about the bush", but rather speaking truthfully, frankly, and directly about a topic, even to the point of bluntness or rudeness, and even if the subject is considered coarse, impolite, or unpleasant.

.

And in not so simple speak...

The idiom originates in the classical Greek of Plutarch's Apophthegmata Laconica, and was introduced into the English language in 1542 in Nicolas Udall's translation of the Apophthegmes, where Erasmus had seemingly replaced Plutarch's images of "trough" and "fig" with the more familiar "spade".
