In June, we were surprised to learn that former Scientology Sea Org official Brittany Ruiz had, after failing to win elected office in Oregon, showed up in Tennessee and was trying to insert herself in local politics there.
So when a reader notified us recently that we should also keep an eye on a politically active character in Austin, we figured it was a similar story.
But the more we looked into it, the more confused we became.
The person that our reader wanted us to know about was a defense lawyer by the name of Lance Kennedy. He’s in his early 40s, and is quite a go-getter. Here’s one of his billboards, which our readers there may have noticed…
Kennedy has quite a backstory, which he has told numerous times in various venues. He says that he’s a seventh-generation Texan, and that he grew up the son of a pastor at a megachurch.
After high school, he went to UT Austin, and then law school at SMU, and also got a master’s degree at Harvard.
