We want to thank the numerous readers who sent us links to a story out of Tallahassee about yet another politician being taken for a ride by Scientology.
We’ve seen this happen numerous times before. In this case, it’s Democratic Florida State Senator Barbara Sharief of Davie, who is sponsoring a bill that would “require medical examiners to conduct a toxicology report and test for psychotropic drugs — including antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers and anti-anxiety medications — on anyone suspected of committing a mass shooting.”
Sharief acknowledged to the Tallahassee Democrat that she decided to introduce the bill after she was approached by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, and she claimed she didn’t know it was a group associated with the Church of Scientology.
Of course, a few seconds on Google would have told her that, but we’ve seen this again and again.
While drug-testing mass shooters may sound like a worthwhile pursuit, it’s important for politicians to understand that when CCHR comes knocking, they have an agenda they are not telling you about.
And that’s literally to destroy the psychiatric profession, to abolish psychiatric drugs, and to replace all prescription drugs of any kind and any mental health techniques with the practices of the Church of Scientology and its crackpot founder, L. Ron Hubbard.
CCHR is the most unhinged of Scientology’s front groups, putting out over-the-top materials about the evils of the mental health profession. It operates a museum on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood that is literally called “Psychiatry: An Industry of Death.”
