The minimum wage back then might have been about $1.25 an hour but I was a skilled construction worker so I made a lot more than that.
Tony is probably just as well off with that e-meter as with the new fangled ones they sell which are over computerized in my opinion.

I paid $100 for mine. My sup on the HSDC sold it to me. I used it 'til the Mark VI came out and a pc gave me one, which I found highly embarrassing. The Mark VI cost $1500, so by my standards this was a very expensive present. I asked the ED of our mission if I should accept it and he said I should, because it was good PR for me to have the latest thing. I used the VI for the rest of my scn career, but never liked it as well as the Mark V. Even then the $1500 price seemed like a ripoff.
That appears to be an "I'm Getting Trained!" button on the right side of the meter. Do they still have those? Or is this a blast from the past? (I never wore one, a bit too corny for me.)

The "I'm Getting Trained" button appears to be in excellent condition and might get some bids on ebay as a collectible when Tony doesn't need it anymore.

I'm punking on Tony but I think Tony is punking on Scientology by having the e-meter with the "I'm Getting Trained" button in the background. Good one - He obviously didn't forget it was there when he made the video. Maybe Karen will ask him why he did it.
Maybe on the next video he'll have the LRH photo or a Grade Chart in the background. Visuals always help understanding. Lots of possibilities.
How about putting the creepy LRH bust in the background? Yikes! My mind wanders.
If they're available a Miscavige bobblehead doll would work.
The more I think about it I'll guess he threw in the e-meter to get the attention and curiosity of passerbys.

I still have a Mark V in my closet. Last time I checked it was still working. (A few years ago.)
It's not the one I used in scn. This one belonged to a friend of mine who wanted to get rid of it but didn't feel right about junking it, so he asked me if I'd be willing to give it a good home. It's purely for nostalgic value.

Since you have a working e-meter, would you mind doing me a favor?
When you have time could you possibly look at Google Maps and see where the keys to my motorcycle are? I haven't ridden it since before covid and recently moved my residence a considerable distance from where I used to live and those keys could have been lost anywhere on that 1200 mile journey.
I think you can just look at maps on line while you are holding the cans and write down the reads you get on various cities, highways and gas stations until you can zero in on where the needle starts to F/N--which is obviously where my keys are now located in the MEST universe.
Please be sure to use a fully charged e-meter so it's accurate, okay?
