As in past years, Scientology leader David Miscavige kept the specific date of the annual IAS gala secret until just a few weeks before it happens, in this case on the weekend of October 31 to November 2 at the church’s UK headquarters, Saint Hill Manor in East Grinstead, England.
We’re not really sure why Miscavige does this. It’s a huge hassle to his own followers, who are expected to put their lives on hold and fly to England for the shindig, even if they’re coming from as far away as South Africa, South America, or Asia.
But now that the date has been revealed, they need to be reminded just what a big deal this is in their careers as Scientologists.
And here to help out is none other than Tom Cummins, the mega-donor who is only second to Trish Duggan for his huge financial windfalls for Scientology. At last count, he was recognized for giving $70 million just to the Ideal Org program, which funds new churches in major cities. And we estimate that he’s given another $60 million to the IAS in straight donations.
