We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Neville Chamberlin, a former Scientologist who was among the first members of the Sea Org when it was formed in the sixties, and who, years later, wrote fascinating descriptions of his days with founder L. Ron Hubbard under the pen name “Dart Smohen.” We received this remembrance of him from his wife Danielle, and much more will be coming from her and others, including Alex Barnes-Ross, Jon Atack, and Janis Gillham Grady, in coming days…
Neville Edward Percival Chamberlin, March 8, 1947 to January 26, 2025, died peacefully in hospital with his wife Danielle by his side following a long illness.
He was a real trooper and fought hard to survive, overcoming many physical hardships over the last few years. In the end, his body gave up on him, but he is now able to fly free.
He was unique, and was his own person. He could not be told what to do, and bucked the trend if he felt something was wrong. He always championed the underdog, and in his early days in Scientology, could often be found helping people when they needed support.
He had a wicked sense of humour and could swear like a trooper, and in the early days on the first ships and then the Royal Scotman (which later became the Apollo) he and his fellow shipmates got up to a lot of mischief.
