My first wife, still in 40 years later, turned out to be wildly racist. Not long after we split up, she had trouble with a bunch of angered local black people. Her casual comment to me: "Maybe I shouldn't have called that woman a ni**er". Another time, "black people wear hats because they're ashamed of their hair" Not the only subject that she would say embarrassingly nutty things about, but WOW. And then there was the Buffalo org public I encountered in 1986, Gunther, from Germany, a Holocaust denier. One day, out of nowhere, I heard him exclaim "there was no Holocaust, those Jews ate better than we did!" The "sane world" of Scientology. I also remember speaking with David Light that year, but nothing very interesting was said. I believe he was a Flag reg at that time. I was a mission holder in Elmira, NY at that time, and had in the mission's possession a box or two full of Scientology spy reports on meetings of defectors of the C of S, early freezone. Only served to make me aware how widespread the defection was. Interesting times.
