Did LRH ever talk about the Streisand effect? Didn't think so, therefore it isn't a real thing and Scientology's actions so far have all been correct. Keep doing what you're doing Scientology! You're winning, suppression will be shattered any day now.
The only place that Hubbard kind of discusses the backfiring PR effect as a kind of "successful" technique, is in the Mission Earth books, where the flawed PR man does that type of backfiring PR work. Never mentions Streisand Effect though, just backfiring PR man character comically portrayed in Mission Earth, forget his name. J Warbler Madman or similar.

If you remember Hubbard himself told the Granada productions interviewer, the famous Hubbard line when Hubbard was asked by interviewer:

Interviewer to Hubbard: "Do you ever consider yourself as quite mad?"

Hubbard answered: "Oh yes! The only man in the world who is a mad is one who doesn't admit to being a madman."

So per this reverse preemptive Hubbard logic, admitting to being the nut means he's not a nut.

That kind of is similar to doing this Steisand Effect backlashing stuff, just to gain ANY attention to his Scientology nuttiness, where if people come into Scientology from hearing how nutty Scientology and horrible Scientology is, then people will still come into Scientology to supposedly find out from Scientology what is "real" Scientology, etc, etc. (I myself fell for this backfiring dissemination Scientology technique, and Scientology fails to define itself properly, and never admitted to their exorcism OT 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 steps ever, not then, not now, so sadly no one will learn the full definition of Scientology from Scientology at any time, you are forced to only learn the full meaning of Scientology by doing the full nuttery quackery lineup, which is dreadful long, and then you aren't allowed to summarize what you learned while you are still in Scientology, you have to leave Scientology and then ponder what you just went through, and try to imperfectly define it. OR you listen to those that have cobbled the whole Scientology nuttery into summary, and only outsiders have done that, NOT Scientology---thus going into Scientology only really works if you go and suffer through all steps all stuff in it, and it's quicker to listen to outsiders who have summarized it all, clearly.)

One of the routes onto the Bridge that isn't stated as one of the routes onto the Bridge, is the J. Warbler Madman Mission Earth backfiring PR route.

Good stuff.

And here is some more "PR TECH" by Hubbard to counteract an "Enemy Line" such as Scientologists imagine Mike Rinder's book to be. I have bolded some parts to highlight the observable fact that the cult's default response to any whistleblower is always lying. Hubbard's "sacred scripture" carefully instructs Scientologists to "counter" any negativity ("entheta") with the biggest, boldest and most outrageous lies possible.

Hence when Rinder's ex-wife flies across the country with a mob of terrorist thugs and attacks him at a doctor's office, the "church" of Scientology broadly promotes the "Big Lie" that Mike is a wife beater who assaulted and battered his ex until she was permanently disfigured and disabled. And Scientologists do clay demos on these things and write huge success stories!

THE ENEMY LINE

When there is a concerted short or long-term campaign going on against someone or something from a single or multiple source, there has been a black PR agreement as to what to say about that someone or something.
Some worked-out and agreed-upon entheta is concocted.
The enemy’s PRs, media outlets and front groups are given exact statements to make.
There is a maxim in PR or advertising that A MESSAGE MUST BE REPEATED OVER AND OVER TO IMPINGE ON A GIVEN PUBLIC. This is found in advertising as “brand-name exposure.” In general PR work it is used to get a client’s name repeated over and over. Even in intelligence the same principle is used: they have the same report appear in several places at once. This convinces the opposition of its “truth.”
An enemy group usually originates several carefully worked-out entheta statements. You can always trace these as being a planned campaign by someone because the same perverted statements appear at widely separated points.
Example: Glutz Biscuits is monopolizing the market. The Weevil Biscuit Company PRs decide to attack Glutz Biscuits and get more of the market. At a meeting, Weevil’s PRs decide upon “Twelve Glutz Biscuit employees were hospitalized for rabies.” To make press on this they get Gussie Mug to get a job at Glutz, pop some soap in her mouth and get carted off for a rabies test. Gussie’s “mother” calls the president of Glutz and confesses Gussie had scratched another employee. The Glutz president has several employees checked for rabies. Weevil PRs tip off the press. The result is a tiny local item “Several Glutz employees were tested for rabies after another employee was hospitalized.” Two-line filler.
But Weevil PRs now go to town. A citizen’s committee angrily condemns Glutz for unhygienic actions. The Health Ministry and local city inspectors are called in and Glutz packages are suspended in stores.
All Weevil Biscuit distributors and salesmen are given the tip-off and clippings. They each are heard to say, “Too bad about Glutz-they had rabies develop in their plant and it has been shut down by the Health Ministry.”
Glutz PRs now deny that the plant is shut down and say that there was only one case of rabies. The idiots.
Glutz staggers into a ten million dollar loss.
Their error? They FORWARDED AN ENEMY COMMUNICATION LINE.
Glutz could have DAed and should have whenever the subject came up. But never brought it up!
And Glutz PRs should have (a) gotten Gussie to confess it was done by Weevil, (b) promptly done a campaign on Weevil, and (c) instructed their own network to say (a new arranged line) “Did you hear about Weevil trying to buyout Glutz yesterday? What these guys will do for a takeover!”
NEVER FORWARD AN ENEMY CAMPAIGN ON YOUR OWN OR OTHER LINES!
Don’t deny rumors for that is what they want you to do.
HAVE A BETTER CAMPAIGN THAN THEY HAVE AND FORWARD IT!
Examples of enemy-planned statements re Scientology:
1. “People who should have professional help go to them” (Truth is, those who started this kill people with their “professional help.”) Answer: Expose the source as murderous.
2. “Hubbard is a science fiction writer.” (This is not too bad as people respect science fiction writers. But it is false. Hubbard only wrote 1,000,000 words of science fiction over a short period and wrote 14,000,000 words on other things. They plug “fiction” to connect it to Scientology. Subtly clever.) A counter-campaign might be (the truth) “Hubbard’s books on Dianetics and Scientology sell more copies than any other writer about the mind. Every psychology course today tries to include Hubbard’s work.”
3. “Hubbard is not allowed to enter England.” (The truth is that this was rigged while Hubbard was not in England and is based on no offenses of any kind, a purely PR action.) A counteraction: Hubbard is a popular member in a score of English clubs and professional societies.” The enemy line is now very ineffective. It has put itself in the same situation as the Weevil Biscuit Company! It is wide open to attack in every quarter and it opened the door by opening an attack.
Don’t be a Glutz PRo
NEVER FORWARD AN ENEMY CAMPAIGN ON YOUR OWN LINES! THE ONLY ANSWER TO A CAMPAIGN IS A CAMPAIGN OF YOUR OWN.

.
CONCLUSION: For the benefits of "truth in advertising", Hubbard's policy "THE ENEMY LINE" should properly be re-named to "THE ENEMY'S LYIN'!" That's always the cult's answer to having their sociopathic behavior and criminal acts exposed.

The Hubbard writings telling the Scientology PR trainees and staffs what to do, is outrageous proof how sabotaging Hubbard was to them all.

They are beyond the beyond stuck holding Hubbard's bag of nuttery.

Hubbard's writings just devastatingly detail how bad of a situation they will be stuck in, if they stay aboard Hubbard's "show."

Keeping the Hubbard show on the road is forever an impossible losing proposition for them.

Mike Rinder's job, his book cannot even tell how truly deeply horrible the predicament is trying to implement the Hubbard "PR Series" writings and on top of them, there's the OSA Int "Network Orders" which were based on the raw Hubbard despatches to old Guardian's Office people and to Mary Sue. But Mike is expert level, and I can't wait to read his book.

----------------------

Imagine the Scientology subject if they just admitted to all newcomers, that their syllabus was a standard step by step pseudo-therapy soul counseling treatment steps that all members are expected to do. Once followers get the midway step, "Clear", then members continue and get into finally, the OT 3, 4, 5 6 and 7 five levels of exorcism of surplus souls they learn infest all humans on earth today. Doing the five exorcism steps then lets them reach their OT 8 top of the line full "OT" status, at the end of the Hubbard syllabus.

Pseudo-therapy and exorcism, is the Hubbard Scientology syllabus, and they aren't allowed to summarize themselves, only outsiders can summarize Scientology. Scientologists aren't even allowed to use the word exorcism to label their OT 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 exorcism steps which address the surplus souls ("body-thetans") which Xenu dumped onto earth which infest all humans today.

Hubbard made it impossible for them to define themselves. They have to omit telling the exorcism part of Scientology. Xenu's supposed misdeeds caused the surplus souls problem, causing Hubbard's exorcism steps "solution."

The bag the Scientology PR people, and OSA boss job, have to deal with, is one of the most difficult jobs around.

Mike should be qualified to do miracles. Mike's resume as PR and OSA boss qualify him for unbelievable predicaments in any other job in the world. MIke's been through beyond the beyond cult Catch 22 and cult pretzel logic stuck holding Hubbard's bag predicaments.

In this exclusive excerpt from his riveting memoir “A Billion Years,” former Church of Scientology senior exec Mike Rinder writes about the church’s courting of Hollywood celebs.
In this exclusive excerpt from A Billion Years, Rinder writes about Scientology’s web of celebrities.

One thing Hubbard wouldn’t have wanted omitted was his brushes with celebrities. He was fascinated by them, and he name-dropped constantly, claiming association and interaction especially with Hollywood figures even during his time as a writer of pulp fiction. This fascination continued into Scientology, where he began to see them as a means of gaining publicity and acceptance. He even had a list of “target” celebrities to be lured into Scientology to help make it popular, and in the early ’70s he created the Celebrity Centre—a Scientology organization dedicated to the recruiting of celebrities in Hollywood. Miscavige also believed in the value of celebrities, and devoted a lot of time and attention to them. What was important to Miscavige became the priority for his underlings. –Mike Rinder

Arriving fresh from Callahan’s Crosstime Saloon
Mike should have some original material no one else would have. When he was head of OSA, the local DSA where I was, in connection with OSA int was running ops on some high profile exes who were making huge waves. The DSA wasn’t looping in the ED, who was a friend of mine and they were upset at being excluded.

Mike would remember sooo many ops and campaigns against people.
