Could Justin Craig, the California ex-con who legally changed his name to Lafayette Ronald Hubbard while convincing some “independent Scientologists” that he’s the reincarnated author of Dianetics, and who has been sitting in a Tennessee county jail since October 2021, really be about to see freedom again?

That’s what he’s telling his followers at a private Facebook group in a message that was leaked to us this week.

LRH 2.0/Craig revealed to the group that he’s seriously considering the prospect of accepting a deal offered by prosecutors that would have him plead guilty for a 17-year prison sentence, and the time he’s spent in county jail would mean he would already be pretty close to qualifying for parole. He said he wanted to hear from his followers before making the final decision, and assured them that this may be the best way for him to get on with his work.

Our coverage of “Ron” goes back a long way. We had an interesting time in 2018 messaging with him and revealing how extensive his criminal background was, including some attempted carjackings and a penchant for violent retaliation. He didn’t seem very convincing as the reincarnated Hubbard — he didn’t know what Ron actually called his third and final wife, for example — but there are indie Scientologists who are convinced that LRH has returned to Earth, and that “Lafayette” has actually improved on Scientology’s “technology” in a new form he’s called both “Esperianism” and “Expedited Scientology.”

Those followers don’t seem bothered that 2.0 was accused of a pretty serious set of criminal allegations: That he was dealing dangerous drugs such as fentanyl from a seedy Tennessee motel where he allegedly seriously injured a woman he beat up, and that after he was taken into custody in 2021, more charges for attacking jail employees were tacked on.
