This was a fortuitous coincidence. The same day that one of our readers forwarded to us a Facebook clip that featured Elena Cardone flogging Scientology’s bible Dianetics for a Scottsdale podcaster, we also heard from someone who really put the video into perspective.
Elena and her husband Grant Cardone are Scientology celebrities who, last time we checked, had donated about $13.5 million just to Scientology’s membership organization, the IAS.
Also, Elena had the rare honor of having her endorsement of Dianetics published in the newest edition of the book, which just recently came out.
But turning to a big donor like this to help with the marketing of the new edition is actually a sign of Scientology’s desperation, says the church’s former chief film director, Mitch Brisker.
“I’m seeing a sizable uptick in Dianetics book advertising,” Mitch tells us. “They are using flakey influencers on Facebook Marketplace as well as ads on the Facebook news feed and I’m sure other platforms. Dianetics marketing always ramps up in the face of falling stats. This goes back to a statement Hubbard issued back in the late 70s early 80s in which Hubbard was pushing for a Dianetics campaign to run in perpetuity and that pushing the Dianetics book is the key to successful recruitment. Over and over I saw [church leader David] Miscavige firing up the Dianeticists campaigning when scientology stats were abysmal. You are well aware that Dianetics is Scientology’s Trojan Horse.”
