Appellate attorney sizes up new Scientology appeal briefs in Leah Remini suit

Scientology has submitted new briefs in the appeal that is holding up Leah Remini’s lawsuit. Tuesday we showed you the appellant’s reply brief for the Church of Scientology International, and yesterday we posted the brief for the Religious Technology Center.

Scientology is asking a California appeals court to overturn a preliminary ruling that had removed some of the allegations in Leah’s case, but had largely kept her case intact. Both sides were unhappy with that ruling by Judge Randolph Hammock (who is no longer handling the matter).

After an initial round of appeal briefs, this new set continue to hone in on Scientology’s gripes about Leah’s lawsuit. But will they be effective as legal instruments?
