Amended: Archived ESMB Forums are now available.

I have an immense amount of gratitude for all that Emma did. :heartflowers:

I seriously doubt that I'd look good in any of her shoes. :coolwink:

We have a "special thread" here, for men wearing women's shoes. You would be welcomed, listened to and understood 🤭😊

But what you really need to know."

I gotta say cowboy's two threads on ESMB -- "trepidatious" and "Dear OSA" -- are both killer
and pretty much tell you all the EPs for the post-sci levels pretty powerfully and succinctly.

A tip of the hat to cowboy. You'll always be remembered around here for sure.

Hey Mims, what do you make of The House Of The Dragon?
Truthfully I am pissed he spent so much time on this prequel, and the history book, and the other projects, leaving the winds of winter unfinished.
I want to read /listen to how he ended the series, not that "dog's breakfast" of the last season. Benioff and Weiss were idiots to think they could write on a par with RR. If they had any brains they would have put their egos aside, and hired the best writers around for that last season.

But that doesn't answer your question. Um. I will put my BPC aside of RR not finishing Winds, and give it a chance and watch a few episodes and see.

Currently I have been watching Inventing Anna, and then I will tee up Brokenwood mysteries latest season. I also want to see the new season of Bosch, the last duel, and will go see 3000 years of longing this or next weekend in the theater. Maybe the next season of My Life is Murders and the last season of Doc Martin will be released soon.

What have you been watching recently?

Mimsey

ā€œI have an opinion,ā€ Dinklage shared during Marc Maron’s WTF podcast as per Comicbook when asked for his thoughts on the prequel. ā€œMake something — I think it is going to be a really good show. The director and producer of it worked on our show, and I think it’s going to be really f-cking good. But, they took a risk on our show, HBO did. They took a huge risk on our show. It was a slow start, but why don’t they do that again? This isn’t a risk. It’s a proven thing that works.ā€

Meanwhile, a few days back while talking about the backlash Game Of Thrones season 8 received, Peter Dinklage said, ā€œI think the reason there was some backlash about the ending is because they were angry at us for breaking up with them. We were going off the air and they didn’t know what to do with their Sunday nights anymore. They wanted more, so they backlashed about that.ā€

The Ex Scientologist Message Board Redux is the living extension of the Ex Scientologist Message Board archive. There's also the (mirror of the) ESMB Web Site.

The ESMB Archive and Web Site contain twelve years of ideas, analysis, experience, opinion, and humor.

The ESMB Archive is usually much calmer than that, but still interesting and informative.

thank you , thank you and thank you @Emma
You are a brillant genius :giggle:
Hoping you are doing fine :)

I am doing fine and I hope you are too!

That is a hella sexy frog BTW.

I truly understand the sentence of only UNDERSTANDING the pathway of someone if you walk in their shoes.
Few people have walked in Emma's shoes.

Acknowledging gratitude, value and appreciation to you Emma.:rose:

Thank you Karen. It's only in the last few years, having walked away, that I fully comprehend what the experience actually did to me. I really never got over that arrest. It really messed me up and hanging around in the environment for another 9 years afterward didn't help :duh:.

No wonder I kinda lost my mind towards the end there.

While I'm on that subject I'd like to publicly apologise to you and others I hurt during those tumultuous last weeks. I was going through some truly awful shit and, although it's no excuse, I hope it can be forgiven.

Upon reflection I have come to understand that I just wanted to burn bridges. Like the "Mad King" I wanted to "burn them all" (GOT reference). I had decided to walk away from ESMB so many times and had been convinced to stay and I didn't want that to happen. It was not a conscious thing. I think it was an unconscious part of me taking over and doing the thing the conscious part of me should have done years before. It was an effective yet inelegant way of doing things. There was no turning back. All the anger and frustration came pouring out.

I have an immense amount of gratitude for all that Emma did. :heartflowers:

Oh come on. give it a try. You never know.

Thank you Veda. I know we've had our differences but it was your words, and those of countless others that has always been the reason that I wouldn't allow ESMB to be lost. In the background I was still paying for the hosting, still renewing the domain, still paying the ongoing software fees.

I have truly been busy but have found some time and peace in the last few weeks and so I decided to finally fix it. I think the search still needs work but I'll work with the hosting company to fix it.

AAAAAND eventually I will fix the website that goes with it.:geekon:

I am still traumatised LOL. I did rewatch all the seasons recently "in preparation" for HOTD and, I don't know if it's because I am now numbed to it, but I didn't hate Season 8 as much.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm not a book reader. I tried but I couldn't for some reason. Now it seems moot because I know (thereabouts) what happens. I'll probably read the new books though. I want to know his alternate ending. I fear he'll die before he gets to it.

I tried to get into Inventing Anna but couldn't. I think I watched too much Ozark to believe in Julie Garner's character. Ozark is a great show in case you haven't seen it.

I watched Severance which I really enjoyed. The Queen's Gambit was fabulous. Peaky Blinders was good. Afterlife was great but the last season was a bit of a let down. I watched both version of Narcos which I enjoyed.

There might be some truth to that but I've also seen Dumb & Dumber say that they were just sick of it and wanted it to be over.

You should watch this video if you haven't already. It explains why the writing was so bad. D&D are failed writers.

Thanks alot, @Emma, for everything!

Hey @Emma Glad to hear that you are finding your way again.
Sorry I haven't been able to say hi to you off the air, got my own stuff going on. But hope to do so soon.
If that's okay with you of course.
Best wishes to you, glad to hear from you again.

I don't have time to read books myself so I listen to them instead. Many times I find myself having to drive an hour or more to and from work in LA traffic, so listen the them because I am so overrun on the same music, played over and over. If I don't have a book I may listen to a pod cast such as Joe Rogan, or do spanish audio lessons ( pimsleur) Also when I am doing something mindless, like balancing my checkbook I will listen

I dunno if you drive to work, work from home, or what, but listening to audiobooks makes the tedium go away. I download them from the library on my computer, then transfer them to my phone so they don't auto-erase if I pass the deadline to "return" them, and play them in the car on bluetooth through the car's audio system.

I haven't seen ozark, severance, and want to see narcos. I so loved Queen's gambit, what a wonderful film.

RR is so obese, and likely diabetic, I have the same worries. I don't think he has kids, though he is married:

"In the early 1970s, Martin was in a relationship with fellow science fiction/fantasy author Lisa Tuttle, with whom he co-wrote Windhaven.[122]

While attending an East Coast science fiction convention he met his first wife, Gale Burnick; they were married in 1975. The marriage ended in divorce in 1979, without issue, just before they were meant to move to Santa Fe together. Instead he settled there alone from December that same year until September 1981, when what would be his longtime partner Parris McBride moved in with him.[123][124] On February 15, 2011, Martin married McBride during a small ceremony at their Santa Fe home. On August 19, 2011, they held a larger wedding ceremony and reception at Renovation, the 69th World Science Fiction Convention.[125]" wiki

I have no idea what would happen, would Parris release it unfinished? When Michael Crichton passed away they found unpublished works on his computer, and released them, though they weren't of the same quality as his published work. Probably first drafts? When Patrick O'Brian, passed away, they published his unfinished last novel as-is which stopped almost mid sentence. He wrote the series that the movie Master and Commander was based on. I thought that was a more honest approach than hiring another writer to finish it, and carry on the series as happened with Frank Herbert ( Dune) and Stig Lasson (Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

Parris McBride is an American blogger and philanthropist who is best known as the longtime partner and now-wife of celebrated novelist and short-story writer, George R. R. Martin. George is also known as the American Tolkien for his series of epic fantasy novels, 'A Song of Ice and Fire', which has been adapted into the HBO series 'Game of Thrones'. Parris runs a live journal in which she posts interesting details from her life. A philanthropist, she told the fans not to send gifts following their marriage, and instead requested them to direct money towards some charities taking care of animals. Since the 1990s, both she and her husband are strong supporters of the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in New Mexico, which seeks to rehabilitate wild and domestic-wolf dogs. In 2013, she helped the Pearl Foundation to raise money for scholarships for writing students. She pledged $2.7 million to arts collective, Meow Wolf, in 2015.

Speaking of queen's gambit have you seen Emma. ? She's a fine actress - and she will be starring in the upcoming Furiosa:

Furiosa is an upcoming Australian post-apocalyptic action adventure film directed and co-written by George Miller and stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the titular character Furiosa. It serves as both a spin-off and a prequel to 2015's Mad Max: Fury Road. Wiki
