Amended: Archived ESMB Forums are now available.

I'm not a technical person but why couldn't the locked ESMB that existed before it went off line just be activated again?
Nobody can post or comment or add or delete, but the material and the threads would be there to be read.

Because Emma (?) did what any responsible site admin would do and upgraded the XenForo software version (because dozens of bug fixes and security holes plugged) and that unfortunately broke the existing database somehow.

Hoaxer, with respect and speaking as a database-driven web application programmer and Internet server technician, I'm afraid you are dreadfully mistaken as to just how much effort, time, and cost might be required to convert and import the long out-dated XenForo database of original ESMB to the present format XenForo uses. All the posts, comments, and threads in the old database are tied to specific User records by ID numbers that are mostly already in use here on this site. The post, comment, and thread records all use ID numbers that are already in use on this forum as well. That alone would be a major roadblock to importing the old content. :(

Good to know, thanks. I wonder what the cost of solving that problem would actually be.

Couldn't we just outsource this to like Bangladesh, who have an "educated and skilled labor rate of about 95 dollars a month or $0.46 an hour" ---and have the newly recruited offshore staff just sign billion year contracts and retype all the posts? LOL.

There are some hall of fame threads on the old site (e.g. Faceinthecrowd, Cowboy, et al) that would be great to rescue if there was some practical way.

Well, the entire archive site is a historical records asset. I sure hope it is recoverable without extreme expense of time, money, and/or stress on Emma's part.

Once upon a time, I was a library assistant in High School. The thought of losing the trove of historical data contained in archived ESMB is rather stressful to me.

God almighty, it's like you guys don't listen. As I told you many times before, NOTHING IS LOST. Go - have a look. JFC.

Well, my - call it paranoia - on this matter has proven unfounded. Thank you extremely much for restoring archive ESMB to operation!

I wish I had a dollar for each time your unfounded paranoia was pain in my arse.

It isn't paranoia when there is exists a genuine enemy who is - in truth - out to get one. ESMB has always been a primary OSA INT Internet Investigations Unit target and that was proven beyond a reasonable doubt by your OSA-sponsored false arrest and the search and seizure of all your personal computers back in 2010, my dear.

I'm sorry to have been such a pain to you, but my concerns have never been purely delusional.

I understand Sneaks but I repeatedly told you that all was in hand. You just chose not to believe me.
I also told you I'd fix it when I had time. I found time today.

You did fix it and I am both grateful and relieved. Truly.

One unpleasant thing about me is certainly no fault of yours. I don't particularly trust or believe anybody ( Ron Hubbard included, as I keep telling people here who refuse to listen ). This has generally been the case since I was about 4 1/2 years old when a care giver (court-appointed foster parent) threatened to murder me if I revealed his extreme abuse to my social worker then held my head underwater in a wading pool until I nearly drowned to make sure I believed him.

My trust or faith in other human beings has been betrayed and abused one way or another pretty much my entire life. And yet I still care about people and what happens to them.

Thank you very much for restoring the archives to service.

You're welcome.

HI - why can't you move on? Leave the girl alone, she has a life and ESMB will or won't be resurrected as she feels is appropriate. Emma slayed a lot of dragons with ESMB, for which I am eternally grateful, and she has my blessings in whatever path she chooses. If you want to egg someone on, turn your attention to George RR Martin. Knowing how much Emma loved Game of Thrones, she would be eternally grateful if you could get him to finish Winds Of Winter.

Hey Mims, what do you make of The House Of The Dragon?

thank you , thank you and thank you @Emma
You are a brillant genius :giggle:
Hoping you are doing fine :)

@Emma, a public praise -- a unicorn being a person who's rare and
highly valued -- and big thanks from the veterans of the original site.
