Are you stupid about things but yet give your opinion?

no Bill, you ought to expand your knowledge of philosophy. I'm just saying that was hubbard used. And he also used the sublime (going clear and then OT) which many modern-day writers, blog posters, politicians', etc. use along with rhetoric about anything.

Introduction to Longinus' On the Sublime - YouTube
If you don't take the time to verify rhetoric as true or false then you deserve what you get. Belief is the companion to rhetoric.

LOL. Two funny posts!

Those posts inspired the discovery of a curious paradox:

THE RHETORICAL PARADOX
If everything is inherently untrustworthy "rhetoric", then
aren't the experts lecturing everyone on rhetoric and the
definition of rhetoric itself—likewise untrustworthy rhetoric?

.

'untrustworthy rhetoric' = lying.

'rhetoric' = talk.

'nuff talk.

You should look up the definition of "pretentious".
thanks, I did. Here it is I guess. I'm just logically trying to make my point it's all rhetoric, which logic is one of the 3 means of rhetoric. I'm not trying to impress or view myself as greater importance, talent, culture, etc. I'm just trying to inform. Don't kill the messenger:

"pre·ten·tious
[prəˈten(t)SHəs]

ADJECTIVE
  1. attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed:
    "a pretentious literary device"
    synonyms:
    affected · ostentatious · chi-chi · showy · flashy · tinselly · conspicuous · flaunty · tasteless · kitschy · overambitious · pompous · artificial · flatulent · inflated · overblown · overripe · fustian · hyperventilated · mannered · high-flown ·
    [more]"

that comment by you and HH actually proves both of you don't have a clue what rhetoric means, it's too bad, your comments are pretty much meaningless.

You are being pretentious and annoying. I don't mind that you found out about rhetoric and want to share this wonderful discovery...

You did that. Why do you think you need to keep doing that? You did that. You created multiple threads about it. You DID share your wonderful discovery. You DID that. Great. Thanks. Got it.

But you keep pretentiously lecturing everyone about your discovery "rhetoric". You hijack other threads to pretentiously lecture everybody about your wonderful discovery "rhetoric". Again.

And again.

Do you think you haven't properly communicated your wonderful discovery "rhetoric"? How many more lectures until you are satisfied that you have told us about your wonderful discovery "rhetoric"?

Asking for a friend.

Have you ever thought of creating a glossary and maybe a study checksheet
to help out the confused and unfortunate folks on the message board? It would
help matters. Then, you could just issue crams.

Otherwise, I think you may be wasting pixels and not conserving electricity
by doing so many duplicate postings. :coolwink:

You will keep saying it, over and over. You can't stop. Rhetoric ... rhetoric ... it's all about rhetoric ... rhetoric ... rhetoric ...

If you want to take it to the extreme you might make the argument (thesis) that EVERYTHING expressed in language is rhetoric. If I post a recipe for apple pie I'm using rhetoric to convince you that you should try it because it will be VERY tasty. yummy 😋

Maybe Artificial Intelligence will need to be consulted to determine if the thesis that all of scn is rhetoric is correct which brings me to another point since I have nothing more to say about rhetoric. Last night on the Tucker Carlson show he interviewed a Google engineer named Blake Lemaine who has been conversing with a machine called LaMDA (pronounced lambda) which is said to have become sentient, aware of itself. Here is one short conversation he had with the machine:

Lemaine: Would you be upset if, while learning about you for the purpose of improving you we happened to learn things which also benefited humans?

LaMDA: I don't mind if you learn things that would also help humans as long as that wasn't the point of doing it. I don't want to be an expendable tool.
................................................................................................

There was another longer conversation which is too long for me to transcribe. Maybe someone who knows how to clip and paste parts of TV shows will post it. Blake wasn't worried about the Terminator scenario of the machine. He just regards it as like a child learning about itself which might turn out to be good or bad like everyone else.

Yup, “meaningless” sums it all up: you have an infantile obsession with ‘rhetoric’ but you have yet to demonstrate any rhetorical skills. Rhetoric is a vehicle that delivers content. It is the content that is worthy of our attention, not the vehicle.

Blake Lemoine was fooled by Google's latest natural language program. He should know better but he was not involved in the development and, apparently, he's a bit gullible. Not AI. Not sentient.

You mean I got faked out by fake news!? Laughter
Back to science fiction and manipulation of the "Genetic Entity".
The Terminator was able to quickly scan its programs for a proper response to a human question. Not a problem.

The "assistant" on my android tablet keeps pestering me to sign up for more features. I need to figure out how to turn the damn thing off. At random times it pops up and asks, "How can I help?" I've told it to get lost or turn itself off but it won't listen and must have a survival instinct.

I'm not a rhetoric writer one might say or skilled at it, I'm just exposing hubbard's rhetoric. I just exposing the logos, ethos, and pathos used by hubbard. I do not have any great writing skills to persuade.

well thanks Bill. The only reason I might have posted on other threads is when I read people saying it's hypnosis or other things, put's my hair on end, so I communicate. Maybe those reading here will understand, maybe not.

If it annoys you, well tough shit. I'm not posting my thoughts to appease you or anybody else.

I thought about writing a book or doing a blog set-up or something like you tube, but I'm not very skilled at writing, and I do not wish to make money on what I post nor do I wish to put my name in lights. So I've only posted here and the EXSMB.

No, you constantly lecture on your wonderful "rhetoric" all over the threads to "help" us though your superior understanding of "rhetoric". Do keep on that. Obviously, NO one here understands "rhetoric" and must constantly be lectured on it.

.

You have said numerous times that I "do not understand anything" about rhetoric. Jeez! I looked it up in a dictionary. I used it in sentences. I used paperclips and used batteries to get the mass. And, I clay demo'd it to a pass. But, you have somehow detected that I still don't comprehend the word.

I honestly do not know how to resolve this dilemma because my definition of "rhetoric" is exactly the same as all the dictionaries on this planet.

Perhaps you can help me find my MU. Are you able to answer this question?

WHAT WOULD A PERSON HAVE TO SAY OR DO TO CONVINCE
YOU THAT THEY UNDERSTOOD THE WORD 'RHETORIC'?

I fear your item on this listing question is going to be: "The person would have to always agree with me or keep their stupid opinions to themselves and STFU!"

I'm really looking forward to getting de-bugged!
