The Danny Masterson Trial thread

I don't envy Bijou. Waiting for the axe to fall and the wait is just getting longer and longer.

I don't follow the lives of these people much..... ( Hollywood Royalty....)
But Bijou certainly falls in that category. What exactly that category means....I couldn't say...

If she has veered off that track......she will always be related to Hollywood Royalty...

It all goes back to the 60's music group.... The Mamas and the Papas. Its hard to believe that they only performed for a couple of years from 1965 to 1968.... But they were HUGE....

I had Michell Phillips in my Yellow Taxi one evening....but didn't realize who she was until it hit me later that night.... She had been attending a birthday party for Mick Jagger....when I picked her up. Michell Phillips is not Bigou's mother....but John Phillips is Bijou's father....

I guess you could say that Bijou has Whale Status for Scientology..... And Danny "landed her." ??

@Karakorum I agree with you......she must be feeling the pressure!

I guess pressure is not something new to her....as Michelle and John....were mixed up a bit with Charlie Manson ....back in the day....

I believe that it is possible that as a result of the public humiliation of danny masterson, many other still-in celebs will have gotten a dose of the factual oddities of their religion.

What they do about it, I do not know. It's maybe enough for someone, but not enough for the situation of another. It could result in the Non-public withdrawal from the cult. We have been seeing it in some danny m level celebs for some years. Some more public than others.

It's possibly one thing to put in the plus column, but it may never be known, even by those affected. That is the way that this stuff sometimes works.

Been listening to more Mac over the past week, saddened by the news of a couple days back. One of my faves:

i only watched a few minutes. couldn't take the stupidity. and howard is drooling all over the place.
Well, Hollowood entertainment industry is a weird place to be. There's a lot of diversity in terms of people's backgrounds and capacities, especially actors. On a big film you can have incredibly intelligent actors star alongside absolute nimrods. I've not seen any other industry where people doing the same job can have such wide differences in brainpower.

Why wasn't this guy called as a witness?

EXCLUSIVE: What the Danny Masterson jury didn’t hear — The Jane Doe 1 eyewitness
DEC 2

[Actor, singer, dancer, producer — and former Scientologist — Damian Perkins]
When the Danny Masterson trial began, both sides issued witness lists that we publicized on October 13. The list for the prosecution included 13 members of law enforcement, 22 civilians, and 1 expert.
Of those, the prosecution actually called 4 members of law enforcement, 9 civilians, and 1 expert during the trial.
Among the witnesses not called by the prosecution was a former Scientologist by the name of Damian Perkins.
We were very surprised that Perkins was not called, because he was a percipient witness — a rarity in this case — which refers to someone who actually saw or experienced something that was directly related to the allegations against Masterson.
We have obtained a detailed witness statement written by Perkins for the LAPD which explains why his testimony could have helped corroborate Jane Doe 1’s allegations of what happened in the early hours of April 25, 2003 at Masterson’s house. (Of the three named victims, Jane Doe 1’s count of forcible rape received only two votes for guilty and 10 for not guilty by the deadlocked jury.)

But if you ask me what I would have done way back when if Danny's case dropped on my desk? I'd pull JD, Danny, Luke and pretty much every single scientologist on that party through a tag-team interrogation. Then I'd have my guys dredge up all their files looking for any connection. Then I'd find key people around them and run them through the gator in turn.
If any other witness or anything in anyone's file would corroborate that it wasn't an isolated incident or a figment of JD's imagination, then we'd have Danny tag-teamed freeform for 10+ hours straight. Or more... until we got something out of him that we all would consider to sound true based on our shared collective experience.

If we would have ended up with the notion that the accusation is substantiated, then Danny would find himself the accountable unit in that case.
Then we would find all the people who knew about this or previous instances and failed to report it. We would run them through the gator until they brake.
In the end Danny would get declared together with probably everyone else who knew but failed to report. Danny's siblings and parents would be next in line and would find themselves standing tall before the man as well.

Overall a lot of people would have a very bad scientology day if we deiced that the accusation is legit. And we ourselves would probably go through several weeks of CMO-induced trauma, shouting and hysterical administrative nonsense.

In some sense the gator machine was slow, but one turned on and in full gear, it was just as cruel and indiscriminate as any other of Miscavige's tools. It would have dragged Danny in, crushed him, spat him out, then drag in his family and friends, proceed to crush them. Possibly it could also drag in the Jane does and their families and friends.
Hell, I'd probally would have enjoyed it all the damn way till the end.

Great question. I imagine there's probably some esoteric legal reason, but I'm no lawyer.

Big news:

The court decided Masterson will be retried.

It is still not the final word, but this is a move in the right direction.

Interesting and I guess it just proves how low the DA's competence during jury selection really was. A Juror's son was convicted of a sex crime AND they let this juror sit on a jury about multiple rapes? Mueller should lose his job if this is true.

However having said all that, I do not think this necessarily means that the retrial will end up much different. In the original trial even if this 1 biased juror ended up replaced by someone else who would vote guilty, the jury would still be very far away from a unanimous verdict.

It was not just a case one biased "not guilty" juror holding out against 11 "guilty" votes.

Regardless how biased Earl was, his argument of: "Well, the testimony of the Jane does included contradictions and surprising elements" stands on his own. The next jury will have the same hurdle to overcome if they want to convict Masterson. Mueller can call more witnesses, ask better questions and conduct himself better in the jury selection.

But in the end, the victim's testimony is gonna be the same and Mueller isn't gonna magically become a more competent DA over a period of a few months.

Call me a pessimist, but I still think the retrial is a long shot. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Addendum:
I was thinking... if I was OSA, what sort of jury would I like best to have on the Masterson retrial.
My guess is that OSA would love to have intelligent, outspoken but working class and low income people on the jury. The ideal would be imho a young father who has 2 kids and a mortage that he is struggling to pay from his blue collar job.

Why? Because in the end I believe the most effective dirty trick here would not be intimidation, but simple financial incentive. Co$ has piles of cash to burn.

So in contrast: Who is the dream witness for the DA? Rich upper class white born-again christians if you ask me. Guys and girls who would vote for Jeb Bush or Bobby Jindal. Too rich to be easily bought, too christian to work with scientology on any other grounds.

So I think Cohen's "jury trap" would be to suggest poor black and/or latino jurors trying to fool Mueller into thinking "black and poor = democrat = hard on sex offenders = willing to believe the Jane Does".

I know I expressed some pessimism here. And yet sometimes there comes this weird moment when you feel like the dead want to add their 2 cents. Especially if you happen to be the last person who knows exactly what they would say, and the last person who can give them a voice.

My sister would have said: "Well, the Hollwood establishment, LAPD, Scientology... they are all on Danny's side. Life ain't fair. You can't fight city hall."

My gramps would for certain say: "Sure you can fight city hall, if you have the guts. Maybe you'll win, maybe not. But you can't just let the bastards walk away without a fight. This is not over."

I think Aaron and Chris managed to unintentionally race-bait one another into a flame war. Someone in OSA has probably died of laughter.

For the record: I wrote to him saying they are both making a mountain out of a molehill and that as far as I see nobody had any real bad intentions. Simple misunderstanding fueled by the suffocating partisan BS propaganda in the US.

That's how BS politics divides good Americans and sets them up one against another to generate drama and votes. Exactly why I dislike it.

EDIT:
For the record, at first I too thought: "Oh, Tony and Chris got played by the defence and/or Davey. This interview with Earl was 100% a set-up."

Right now, I'm far less sure. If Chris knew Earl's daughter for several years and she was a following him on YT and commenting etc... that seems to be too long of a period of a set-up. Especially given that it was nowhere clear several years ago that Earl would land on this jury.

So as weird as it sounds, this might have been a real honest to god rare coincidence that she was familiar with Chris's channel and that her father happened to be picked for the jury.

Having said that, would the defence goad him on to do the interview and drive home their argument? Sure, that's possible. It is also incredibly stupid of Earl to do any public statements given the fact that he did not apparently disclose his son being a sex offender.

This whole thing is so weird, so counter-intuitive and just such a giant coincidence, that I can't help but wonder if perhaps this was all orchestrated from a much higher level. Could it be that the jury selection process itself was rigged? If it was, how many other pro-Masterson jury members were there?

I know, I'm getting into paranoid conspiracy "omfg it is all rigged" mindset. But you have to agree... it is a GIANT coincidence that one of Chris's viewers happens to have a dad who was not only in the jury pool, but who ended up being the jury foreman. That's so statistically improbable...
