Catherine May Gillespie was born Katherine "Kay" Hubbard; she was the first daughter of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, with Margaret Louise "Polly" Grubb (later known as Margaret Ochs).
Her brother was Lafayette Ronald Hubbard, Jr. later known as Ronald DeWolf.
She was married to Rod Whittaker in 1956 and they divorced in 1957.
She later married James P. Gillespie in 1958, they lived in Van Nuys, California in 1963. By 1969 they lived in Los Angeles, California and had two children. (Advance 1969) They had a son named Lance Gillespie. (Ron's Journal 1968)
