Patty Moher takes us into her time as a spy for the Church of Scientology, and its war with one of its all time greatest enemies: Boston businessman Bob Minton (1946-2010).

For a while, Bob Minton was number one on Scientology’s enemies list. The Church was fairly convinced that Bob was PDH’d.

“PDH” is a Scientology abbreviation for pain-drug-hypnosis, a behavioral modification technique Scientology believed was being used by psychiatry, military, and intelligence services in order to put an individual into a state so they can be given suggestions or commands subconsciously. Scientologists are led to believe that the evil psychs PDH people specifically to infiltrate and attack Scientology.

Minton was a multi-millionaire and was doling out a lot of money to expose Scientology. This was totally freaking the cult out, and they figured the only reason he would do this was if the psychs got to him and PDH’d him to attack the church.

Also, according to Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard policy, Minton must have some very serious “crimes” to be so critical of Scientology, and it was OSA’s responsibility to find and expose those “crimes” and shut him up.

They would never believe for a moment that Bob was just a rich guy with a cause he could sink his teeth into. That didn’t fit in with their paranoid world view, and so the Church of Scientology went after Bob Minton with everything they had.
