This evening we welcome a very special new member.
A remarkable Scientology Heroine called Karin Spaink.
This is some of her story ~~

I only just found her on Facebook.
Karen was a humble journalist writing an article here and there eking out a living in Amsterdam. (She is Dutch).
In one of her essays she had mentioned the Cult and some content of their *Sekrit* OT levels.
Note that this was published in some obscure Dutch newspaper ....what readership ? Who even knew ?
Miscavige and his henchman brought out the Brigades and gangster posses to *utterly* destroy her.
The year was circa 1995. She was the target of high volume FAIR GAME with slime and smear, the works.
Karin fought back valiantly. She had no $$$ but quickly became a folk hero where the general population in the Netherlands (who hate the cult) sent her donations and kept it going.
It lasted 10 years.
In the meantime, because it was litigation in the Courts, Karin introduced the OT levels as *evidence*. So the OT levels were now public docs. (NOTS packs were stolen in Copenhagen in the 1980s, but Karin put the entire OT levels in as court evidence, not just NOTS and now it was in the public domain.)
Karin hung on in there against all Church lawyers and won every step of the way.
This was a true David vs Goliath and little 92 lb Karin Spaink gave the cult a black eye second to none.

Hi. I fought Scientology in the nineties, and won. Hence, you can now read all about Xenu.
The fight - basically an attempt by the cult to stifle freedom of speech on the internet - started in the US in 1995, and soon moved to the Netherlands, where my website became the new focus. It took ten years and numerous court cases for it to be resolved, during which my provider fortunately backed me. We won all court cases. In the last one (the fourth), before the Supreme Court, Scientology dropped the case a few days before the Supreme Court was going to rule. Thereby the previous ruling became final.
The series of lawsuits took ten years, all in all. It started as a lawsuit against me and four Dutch ISPs, and evolved into a lawsuit against me and about fifteen ISPs.
Scientology claimed 'copyright' on any publication quoting their basic tenets of belief, and sued anybody who quoted from their OT-levels. We didn't buy it, arguing that any 'religion' should disclose beforehand what it expects its followers to adhere to. The Dutch courts agreed, and put freedom of information over & above copyright.
Hence, Xenu was freed from the clutches of Scientology's copyright. You can read all about the lawsuits here, all about Xenu here, and here's a bit more about me.
