My suggested reading list for newly out Scientologists

You might have done "The Basics" while you were in.
Here's another set for you, "The Heretical Basics,"
that you should be reading now that you're out.

LisbethBooks2.jpg

These are books the COS prefers you didn't read,
as the passages divulge many secrets they'd prefer
remain hidden. Some of the content is pretty shocking
at times. But if you endured being in the COS for a few
years or decades, you'll be able to handle it. :coolwink:

These are books that helped me untangle the experience
called Scientology -- referred to as unpeeling the onion
around here.

Some of the older titles have been put out on the Internet
by authors as webpages or PDFs. Most all are available
on Kindle or at your library as audiobooks.

Enjoy. :coolwink:

If you're newly out or need some more help to peel the Scientology onion,
I can't recommend these interviews highly enough. Bill talks about many
behind-the-scenes moments with Hubbard, Mary Sue Hubbard, Miscavige,
Pat Broeker and many others. (All are audio only.)

My favorite right now is this last one here, which was most recently released.
It picks up steam after the 20-minute mark and is a very shocking look
inside Hubbard's mind, real motives, and behavior off the public stage.

Bill deals the cards straight up about Hubbard.
RIP, Bill. :rose:

Link to David Mayo's 1986 interview:

Sample quote: "He told me he was obsessed with 'an insatiable lust for power and money'. He said it very emphatically. He thought it wasn't possible to get enough. He didn't say it was a fault, just his frustration that he couldn't get enough."

David Mayo was Hubbard's personal auditor and top "tech person."

Link to the article on Clear from the International Viewpoints Home Page

From Mayo's 1989 article on Clear which was written for an Independent Scientology magazine.

Sample quote: "It was PR and marketing considerations that led Hubbard to decide that certain people where 'clear' at a certain point."

An outstanding package of illuminating & entertaining books about Hubbard's hysterically hyperbolic hoax!

Quite surprisingly many Scientologists bought and read the package of books on Amazon and left their reviews:

"Quite obviously the authors of those books are psychotic. I should mention that I approached reading them with an unbiased mind and the opinions I am expressing are 100% my own and I have not been influenced by any other person or organization. I think it is fair and balanced to state that the insane people who wrote those books are not only liars but they are evil and literally worse than Hitler!" - Tom Cruise

"I think it is fair and balanced to state that the insane people who wrote those books are not only liars but they are evil and literally worse than Hitler! I hated every single chapter, page and word of those books. I hated them so much that I didn't even bother to read them!" - J. Travolta
"At least I didn't charge people $600,000 to put them in concentration camps." - A. Hitler

My comment:
Initially, after leaving the official CofS, Bent joined an independent Scientology group ScioLogos.
A long time ago, Bent changed the sign in front of the Riverside Mission to "ScioLogos" for awhile.
Now, the sign on that building is "Life Arts Center".
.

Good idea to change the sign!! LOL

PRO TIP TO ALL SCIENTOLOGY STAFF MEMBERS: Your business model is blown and f*cked up beyond repair. To get people coming in again, we suggest you switch over to a different business model with a proven track record of success. New signage concept below:

!!! H
ALF-PRICE INTRODUCTORY SPECIAL !!!
Rid yourself of 2 evil spirits for the price of 1!

ps: anyone who isn't able to understand that Hubbard's scam is simply a 2.0 version of the centuries-old gypsy psychic advisor scam--with a "scientific" gimmick (e-meter) has pretty much missed the entire point.

So many great books mentioned. Those books can be great healers to us ex-members as well as being educational to all.

Three more come to mind.

RELIGION INC. A good book.

THE TRUE BELIEVER Not about Scientology, but an important book.

MOONWEBS It's about the "Moonies" but still a very good book.

I tried to keep my original list a bit simple and direct. Not to confuse newbies
about the "ex" world. They might feel confused as it is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of course, there was one book that I debated about putting on the list
and finally decided it would mystify newly out folks about familial matters
among the Hubbards. Maybe it will go on a future list. It's a bit more of an
advanced book. Best wait on this one.

lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

World class concepts, shoops, wit & laughs!!!

Don Hubbard says you have been awarded a completion certificate, scientifically confirming that you have achieved the state of "MEITREYA MEME MASTER"!

Karakorum

Ron is the source that will lead you to grief
I would also suggest something from the psychology (The heretical advanced course?):

- "Combatting Cult mind Control" by Steve Hassan.

- "Authentic Happiness" by Martin Seligman

While you may not necessarily attain "authentic happiness" by reading these, they are extremely helpful in sorting out your mind once you are out. Great for spotting elements implanted by scientology through undue influence.

NOTE: Seligman's book on first glance looks like one of those dime-a-dozen self help books that don't do anything. DO NOT BE FOOLED, this guy was the former president of the American Psychological Association and a very prominent researcher (he discovered the "learned helplessness" effect among others). Any schmuck can write a self-help book this days, but this guy has the tools and knowledge to do it.
Even if you won't accept all he says, simply learning about his method will help you see the BS in Hubbard's notions of the mind and emotional well being.

I like the reading suggestions here. (y)

But I imagine the fake items will only confuse a new person.
Very strongly agreed.

Wow, "VERY STRONGLY!" LOL.

More of the same theme from Karakorum---these awful ex-scientologists like IL2L and Mike Rinder and Leah Remini----they're really "harming' people by saying and posting the wrong things. Only Karakorum knows the right way to be an ex-Scientologist and a standard Whistleblower. Only Karakorum is qualified to handle them, right? LOL.

Those terrible Shooped spoofing memes. Yes, we mustn't make the blown Scientologists laugh. It's a deadly serious activity.

I highly recommend investigating ILove2Lurk, then a Com Ev and head on a pike.

It's so good that there are thought police here to protect others who lack the intellectual powers to recognize satire. Without the elite intellectual Karakorum to guide them, the ex-Scientologists "won't make it".

This stuff is actually way too stupid to post on the STUPID THREAD. LOL.

The world according to elite intellectuals who are the only ones that know how to handle an ex-Scientologist. . .

SCENARIO: Recently blown Scientologist arrives on the Ex-Scientologist Message board and begins eagerly lurking, reading and posting. They are doing great. Occasionally, they bump into something that even makes them laugh which is a moment they love, who wouldn't after being in the grim control-freak cult?

Then the ex-Scientologist sees one of IL2L's brilliantly satirical posts like this one:

EX-SCIENTOLOGIST'S REACTION: LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

WHAT NEVER HAPPENED IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD: Ex Scientologist looks at the shoop and thinks: "OMG, this is so confusing, I was in Scientology 40 years but I never knew that Ron had an evil twin brother who was an Operating Hobo!!!!!!" Then they begin spinning in and thinking: "And making matters worse, I never knew that a hobo totally plagiarized Mark Headley's book, even using the same cover, that's horrible!! Mark needs to sue that 1.1 hobo who is riding around on that motorcycle stealing people's intellectual property!!!"

Then they decide: "IL2L's satirical shoop is totally enturbulating!! And I didn't even know the state of Operating Hobo existed! I am going to stop this madness of being an ex-Scientologist and go directly back to the org and pay for the Hobo Rundown. I must give my eternal thanks to my FSM, Karakorum, who made this all possible!"
